Not sure how I really feel about rooting for the individual Qatari players to fail. Similar to when Jurgen Klopp was talking about everyone pressuring players to take a stand against the event, even though they were all probably teenagers at the oldest when the decision was made to award the WC to Qatar, and had no hand in that process. Same with the Qatari players. If not for FIFA corruption they would just be a group of guys who almost certainly wouldn’t have qualified for the WC and would be sitting at home watching like the rest of us. Feels at least somewhat unfair to hope they get humiliated in front of the whole world just because their government and FIFA are awful.

I had this same feeling today. Not just about the players, but the fans as well.

Disappointed to see this, but this was always going to be the outcome once FIFA said they would have referees issue yellow cards to captains who wore them. Two yellows gets you suspended for a match, so from a purely sporting perspective, hard to take a yellow for uniform violations.

Qatar was clever, either they agreed(beer) or never responded(armbands) to avoid a chance of having the location changed until it was absolutely too late for anyone to actually change venues.

Derek Rae is generally pretty good on commentary, but he’s leaning WAAAAY too hard into his Dutch pronunciations in this game.

Looks like Belgium may be forced to alter/change their away kits. They had the word ‘Love’ on the back and it needs to be removed.

Mostly smaller outlets reporting it at the moment. Will see how true it is soon enough.

All FIFA is doing is reminding everyone how ****** they are, whether you agree with the messaging or not. Hope they get BTFO.
