The Official 2024 NFL Season Thread

Come on man, the quote is pretty clear he was dissing McCarthy. You can say something like "You know that's above my pay grade. I don't make decisions about the coaching staff. Right now, I'm focusing on getting better for guys like Zack Martin, who I love..." etc. He specifically made a point to diss McCarthy or show he doesn't care if he's the head coach or not.

I don't see how your quote is any different, tbh. It's like the equivalent of Ricky Bobby throwing in "with all due respect" but it's the same message

IDK, I do agree that he's immature in some ways. I don't like all the podcasting and talking about other teams when your house isn't in order....

But what did he actually say about McCarthy? He said he's not worried about his future and that Martin has given more to the Cowboys, which is 100% true. McCarthy has given them sweat for 5 years. Martin has given them blood, sweat, and tears for 11 years. Martin's about to be done as a player. McCarthy can get another job coaching if he wants to (although with NFL HC probably out of the question).

He was asked about McCarthy and said he was sadder for players. I take it as maybe a little bit of a dig, but I think it's mostly just a players love players thing.
That question is an easy "no comment" or "I don't make decisions like that." Instead, you say Mike can leave and go wherever he wants, you want to win the trophy for guys like ZM who put in more work than McCarthy ever did, etc.

I see why he feels worse for players than the head coach, but it is still an obvious dig at McCarthy.

I hate the sports media world. I want guys to be real and honest, and they say something like this and we jump all over them. **** the no comment stuff. It's so boring, and IMO, is also a diss if you can't muster up a defense for your coach.

He said he cared more about a player close to retirement more than his coach, which is a real thing to say, and to me, it's totally relatable. Hanging up the pads is really hard.

We probably all learned in HS that you build football fields going north-south so you don't have to face the sun...how this escaped Jerry Jones and everybody involved in building their stadium, IDK, but what's even harder to explain is why they refuse to put up shades when they play late afternoon games in November. It's the most idiotic thing. There is an easy solution here.

It’s crazy that McVay is such a damn genius coaching offense and yet he manages the clock worse than a 10 year old on Madden

I've never been a huge fan of guys on the same team ripping each other. Player vs. player, player vs. coach, player vs. their own fans, etc.

If someone wants to rip someone not on their team (another player/coach, the league in general, a referee, other team's fans, etc., I'm all for it.

Not really my style but for pros, I think there is a time and a place. I cannot fkn believe that the Cowboys brought back McCarthy, and if I'm Parsons, I'm worried it will happen again.

Micah shouldn't be concerned about McCarthy coming back next season. This is why Jerry didn't extend McCarthy's HC contract.

This is no Jason Garrett situation who was like a son to Jerry, Mike McCarthy is gone at end of season.

But the Dak albatross contract won't be 😉

Nate Tice is saying Kyler Murray is #2 in QBR and legitimately in the MVP convo and a big reason is he's under center. He said in 4 years with Kingsbury he dropped back from under center 125x and has already done it 55x this season. He said the other big thing is they pull a guard on rollouts way more than other teams because backside pursuit can't catch him and they just gash people with it.

Pack: I’m being a realistic Bears fan even though it’s in Chicago except I still see a better Packers team outperforming a struggling Bears team even if the Bears succeed keeping it close.
I’m picking with my head not my heart.

Lions: They’re a great team that is going to embarrass the hapless Jaguars most likely in the battle of 2 Wild Cat teams.

Vikings: The Titans might keep it close because it’s a home game, however the Vikings are a Royal flush for offense so I’m not expecting a rebuilding Titans team to outperform a pretty good Vikings team.

Dolphins
Patriots
Saints
Jets
Steelers
Falcons
49ers
Bills: It’s in Buffalo so I’m hopeful the Bills outperform the Chiefs to win a thrilling competitive game.

Chargers: They’ve had more consistency for winning even though the Bengals have been playing better after early season struggles.

MNF: The Lone Star State Rivalry
Texans: They’re a very solid team while the Cowboys aren’t, and I expect the Texans to execute more successful plays even if the Cowboys keep it close.
It wouldn’t be surprising if the Cowboys kept it close because this is their Super Bowl since it’s unlikely they can make the Playoffs as a Wild Card.

That Hendrickson call is simultaneously blah but would get called a helluva lot.
