I would agree he’s pretty elite. However, Bama has had one losing season in 25 years. I also agree that he may have trouble winning a national title if he doesn’t at least try to improve his defensive coaching.

Slightly better Kentucky is a pretty good summation of them. Even worse for Kentucky is they aren't even a particularly great offense unless they get the 3 to fall in a high clip.

So, Heupel’s offense which likes to go fast, create explosive plays, and score points is NOT a gimmick? But Oats offense which likes to go fast, shoot a lot of 3’s, and score points IS a gimmick? Come on, man. Oats pulled his system from the NBA. 3’s and rim 2’s. It’s not a gimmick. It’s just volatile.

11 on 11 vs 5 on 5 with physical blocking is way different. If you live and die by 1 thing you're relying on 1 thing. Heupel offense does not rely on one thing only. We can beat you different ways. Alabama lives on one thing.

Oats's offense is not a gimmick. It's a system and a calculated gamble. The problem is that when the 3s aren't falling, his lack of defense allows the other team to score more points than they do.

If you can hit 3s at a rate close to what average teams make 2s, and you shoot a lot from downtown, you're going to win. But like going all in with an A/K pre-flop, if the cards don't fall, you can be screwed
