The Official 2025 March Madness Discussion Thread

Not sure what Oats did beside speak like a dumbass to the press about the Miller situation. The police didn’t even charge Brandon Miller with anything. So not sure what exactly Oats should have done there besides not saying dumb things. Oats ain’t kicking off or suspending a player involved in something when the justice system itself didn’t punish or charge that person in the same event/circumstances. No coach would.
So Miller didn’t bring the gun to the guy who pulled the trigger? Did I miss something? Was that disproven?

These incidents happened in Tuscaloosa and Gainesville. (We can also add the Jalen Carter situation in Athens.) Same situation. I’m sure the authorities were absolutely impartial when dealing with high profile university athletic personalities in those towns. Wink, wink. Nothing to see here. Please don’t wiz on my head and try to convince me it’s raining. Influence and money have a way of making things go away.

Some of y’all sure are quick to defend bad behavior.

Brandon Miller made some questionable choices but he did not do anything that that proved he intentionally delivered a firearm that was going to be used in a crime.

Yes he’s a knucklehead and so is Nate Oats. But no sane coach (or even Athletic Director) is going to suspend or kick off a player from their team/school when the justice system says they won’t bring charges/can’t prove intent….

I get it, we hate all things Bama, but Oats’ biggest problem with that is he didn’t keep his mouth shut and just say “no comment on legal matters”

You can say we are quick to defend bad behavior but can just as easily say you are not looking at things objectively without bias because “Buck Fama”….typically more people let emotion cloud their judgement and that’s the case here with you apparently.

And some are quick to make assumptions with no factual predicate.

Look, I don't know what happened with Golden. I know only that some coed or coeds alleged that he texted them sexually explicit pics or messages. I dont know what they were, how many if any, when, or any details at all. For all I know he did creepy things.

But I'd be speculating on it and based basically on undefined triple hearsay.

My brother is a CEO of a major health care company in Jax FL. He lives in Ponte Vedra and often has conversations with former and existing coaches in the area. Plus, his kids go to a Catholic, private school where many affluent families send kids. So he sees and hears about FL sports - both professional and college, esp. Gators.

It’s Amazing what coaches get away with. And I’m sure it happens everywhere.
So this is the “so much proof” you cited?
