The Official #22 Tennessee @ #18 Kentucky Game Thread, 1:00 PM ET, ESPN

At the end of the day, it looks to me like BHH could have helped when it was still a game .
Agree, yes, at the end of the day. I’m thinking more along the lines of before it ever started and what we knew about his lack of productivity beforehand. At any rate, I hope he does get more PT, he’s got such great potential and I’d hate to see him hit the portal because he’s frustrated at the lack of minutes.

It created an advantage for veteran teams. TN’s two players logging the most minutes were freshmen and the team had to skip the summer workouts when freshmen get familiar with their teammates. Still made it to the NCAAT though.
Whatever, results are what matter. Keep the excuses coming if it makes you feel better.

It doesn’t matter what condition the program was before Barnes got here....we are 7 yrs past that. This hall of fame coach of ours had 2 good teams in yr 3 and 4. To me I would have expected this hall of fame coach to build off that but either he isn’t recruiting right players or he isn’t developing or coaching good enough. The last few yrs we’ve seen “non traditional “ schools make it to the F4. I think Barnes may have already peaked here with Grant and Admiral.

Look, bottom line is Barnes record since Admiral and Grant left is 46-28 overall and 21-19 in the SEC. I’m glad to sit back and see how this season plays out but when you bring back 60% of your scoring and add a top 4 recruiting class that includes the #1 pg in the country, I would expect better than what I have witnessed so far this season. If this is a team that barely makes it to the dance and gets ousted the first weekend, much less the first game of the tourney, I think it is definitely time for some “ retirement “ discussions to be had

We had the #4 recruiting class because of numbers but not because of the total quality of each player. When will some fans understand that.

It's like in football when a team has 20 recruits by July but many are 3 stars, and they are top 5 but the other teams only have 10 recruits. The illusion is in the numbers. The Vols had 7 commitments - 7 plus a transfer which is over half a team. Of course you're going to have a top 5 class.

Some of these guys are developmental. Preseason we have delusions of grandeur that we got at least 1 additional 7 footer to solidify the post with
at least a shot blocking presence. Well the 4 and 5 positions are poor. If you want to get on Barnes about something then it's probably poor to below average big man recruiting other than BHH. In addition, the fact that the guy with the biggest upside sits on the bench until we're down 30. Now that is a good argument.

Clearly based on what we've seen out of the post, we're right where we should be. The question is should we have sneaked in another win if we'd have just let BHH work through his growing pains. There's differences of opinions here but I think Barnes thinks BHH can be a star with the right push and he doesn't want him getting off easy.

By the fact that his “ predecessors” were paid less than 1/2 of what Barnes makes , you just helped make my point. We are getting ripped off.

There you go again. Who is "we"? Are you paying his salary? I agree that Barnes isn't performing up to his salary, when compared to elite coaches, but I don't pay his salary, so I don't care what his salary is. So why do you?

LOL

7-11 in SEC and 10th place. Tyndall was a joke.
What did he inherit? Four returning scholarship players, one of which had scored double figures in an SEC game per UT's website. His results weren't so bad considering that. He'd already proven that he could win, just not within NCAA parameters.

Tyndall did a very good job with the roster he was handed. He's an excellent coach. He wasn't doing anything other big schools weren't doing, he was just doing it at the wrong size school. North Carolina and Syracuse are running decades long academic fraud programs for basketball players? Smack down Southern Miss for it so we can look tough.

Donnie did a great job hanging on to Josh Richardson, Robert Hubbs, and Armani Moore while adding Kevin Punter for more upper class help. Then he did his sketchy recruiting act to bring in a really good group to fill out his roster.

You feel Admiral was a "sketchy" recruiting score? If he was, I still approve. We know that college coaches are on the spectrum of sketchy as hell to "I made a strong assed offer". Tyndall sinned at a small school and paid the price right as he landed a big gig. Happened to hurt Tennessee, an NCAA specialty. He paid a price you'd never see Cal, K, Self, Roy, Boehiem and that lot pay for being involved in much worse for much longer.

I said that Donnie’s sketchy recruiting act miraculously filled up his first roster. I didn’t say there was anything sketchy about Admiral Schoefield personally who was in the next class. Don’t twist my comment.

Admiral was a Tyndall recruit. So you contend all the other Vols he recruited in his first class were involved with sketchy practices but Admiral was not a few months later? Not sure what you have against Tyndall. He took over Cuonzo's decimated roster, had a decent season considering what he inherited and set Rick up with some good players to build on.

And you did it again. Tyndall was a sketchy recruiter. Quit acting like I’m disparaging Admiral or Punter or any other player. DONNIE TYNDALL cheated and was bad at it.
