The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

What I don't get about the whole thing (other than the fine Dremel work) is the painting on the mags. I could understand painting the base plate and even up the mag a tad, but Michelangelo there painted the portion that would be hidden by the mag well. Or inside of a mag pouch.

They look all cool in his uber tactical mag pouch while practicing the coup de grace at 1 yard.

I normally say that anyone should be allowed to own guns, even felons, these guys however, make me reconsider my stance.
If there is any doubt this tactical crap has gotten out of hand, just look at these two idiots.

Truth is, most folks focus on the hardware and never address the software issue.

Holy crap! I just went back and looked, you're right! This moron painted the portion that would never be seen. Sad that it was the rtf model as well. Those bring a premium now. Although I'm unsure why, they're ugly as sin.

You should see some of the AR15s I've fixed before.

I'm all about buy once, cry once and give that advice when I can. But I don't expect everyone to carry that same philosophy. But for crying out loud, you can only put so much lipstick on a pig. And buying a second rate AR and slapping the most inexpensive made in China tactical goodies you can from Cheaper Than Dirt on it is not going to improve performance.

One carbine I fixed up was during the great run of 2013. He bought it from a guy "who custom builds" and couldn't figure out why it wasn't running right. So when I was able to finally get the BCG and charging handle out of the upper, I found out why. Other than missing the receiver plate that's required to properly align the receiver extension and lower receiver, the RE didn't screw in far enough to cover the bolt catch detent. And as such, the detent traveled into the BCG jamming the entire system.

Plus a loose gas tube from an el cheapo gas block that wasn't quite tight. And how did the rear takedown detent and spring stay in the lower receiver without a receiver plate? Superglue fixes everything... And the flash suppressor that wasn't timed and I was able to break free with fingers alone. The FCG pins that were out of spec and would come loose just by cycling the actions. And how much did this POS cost said individual?

$1200. "But it came with three mags!"

I'm all about learning to do things. But do them right the first time and use good parts. And know WTF you are getting into before you start buying a "custom AR15."

Yep, it's crazy what people will do to make a buck. There is always someone there to buy the stuff though, caveat emptor.

Nothing, I mean NOTHING, will ever beat the extreme tactical operator Glock:

Extreme Tactical Operator Version is going into my vocabulary.

I crack up every single time I read that then look at that damn glock.

Edit: Fixed to proper Mall Ninja term.

Picked up a 10/22 (Deluxe Sporter) yesterday. Black laminate stock and fiber optic sites. Came with the 25 round mag and a 10 rounder. I'm sure the fiber optics are take it or leave but they sure help an old guy with old eyes.

Just bought a .45-70 Springfield trapdoor at the local gun show. So far I love it.

You may already know this but be careful what ammo you use. There are a number of loads out there intended for use in things like the Marlin 1895 and are not to be trusted in the old trapdoors.

Ya, thanks for the tip though. You can never be too safe with any gun. So far I've just been using Black Powder reloads in it so far.

I love guns and I have a good # of them, but I try and be easy with older ones. I'm still young and have alot to learn with old style guns.. heck new ones too. lol
