The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

May have asked this before but frankly forgot where I put this gun until recently. It’s a poly frame Taurus .38 a retired LEO gave my mom. I guess he went full tactical and had the hammer ground down. Any idea what the value might be?

I’d be highly skeptical an ordnance accepted frame was finished in the 50’s. Even military turned commercial Colts were gone by 46-47. If it has a V prefix serial it’s WWII.
I took it to a buddy who owns a shop.
He says it’s late 40s post WW2 and nothing special.
500$ is fair retail in his opinion.
So I guess it will sit in the safe looking average

Is this an 85 poly?

If so it’s probably around the $300 range I would guess.

The hammer might detract some buyers and maybe some value; however if you found the right person, they might “want” their subby that way.

One can get the 605 poly protectors (357 versions) new from $330 to $360 (normally).

Those 85’s are decent little revolvers. Personally I wouldn’t take less than $275 (if I wanted to sell) and your probably not going to get more than $350 if you find the right person.

Merely my opinion though.

Found a great deal on a 6.5 Carcano. Is this a relic worth picking up and restoring as needed?
No
Don’t waste your time.

where was this anyway?

seriously though, yes get it. Which one is it?
Edit: I have a M1938 that I’m fond of.

$3.27 a shot.

It’s not much help, but Midway USA has them in stock for $61.99 a box.

Definitely one of the very best cartridges (of its type) and has been for a long time; however I’m not too sure why anyone uses them around here…….especially now days…….I guess unless your just distance target shooting.

I guess if you’ve got em May as well use them though.

I took two deer with it last year. I only take it to certain places, but it knocks them cold. They are hard on metal targets tho. lol

Yea amazing for quick take downs especially at distance.

Just wondered because…..at least where I live it’s hard to “use” the distance and accuracy which the 300 wby mag has available.

It’s a good one though.

Better dial her in fast.

She's in. I still have 4 boxes. I try to keep 5-10 boxes min of everything. Once I cracked this one open and went to restock that's when the pain kicked in.

The one I feel for is my wife. Her .44-40 went up a tad too. lol

Are you married to Annie Oakley?

I normally get it at liberty arms, but I been reloading some since the ammo shortage.
