The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Accuracy is quite good. Definitely better for me than the Ruger.

Reliability is abysmal. I put about 120 rounds through it and it couldn’t manage a single magazine without a malfunction. Failure to feed, eject, stovepipes, you name it, it did it. I knew these could be finicky, but I was shocked.

Definitely going to need a lot more rounds before I trust this thing with my life.

Update. Finally got back out to the range. Can’t believe it’s been so long.

I was able to get the 42 to run reliably. Put a box of Speer Lawman FMJ through it, not a single malfunction. I even tried to induce malfunctions and it ran flawlessly.

Now time to try some hollow points. I’ve had good success with Hornaday stuff in 380, so I’ll start there.

After that, holsters, then into the carry rotation.

I haven't kept up with all the handgun offerings out there in the last five years or so. A Sig P229 elite with aluminum grips has always been my favorite, but I need something that's more reasonable for carry. After doing a little looking at what Sig is currently offering...it's a little confusing. I'm finding mostly striker fired poly guns in only 9mm with all kinds of different slide, frame, and grip panel offerings. For anyone with experience with the traditional Sig P series metal framed guns and the new poly offerings, are the grips and trigger feel pretty similar?

I have a Sig P239 that's a great size for carry, but I've just never loved the feel of it and it's not as reliable as the P229 in my experience.

My sister bought her husband a desert eagle a few years back. Now, she's asked me about some sort of red dot or holographic site for it. Any suggestions?
