The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Yea, all 3 of my eagles can barely hit paper at 10 yards. So disinterested in them never even took the time to sight them in. Frames are just to large and no real capacity off ammo. I blame training day for making me buy these. They will sell, novelty gun and all of mine were made in Iseral. Now I believe they are made in MN?

My .500 Smith is mostly a novelty. I handload so the ammo cost isn't completely insane. Also, once you get the hang of holding on to the big MF'r it's DAMNED accurate. With it's favorite loads probably the most accurate handgun I own in fact. It's just too gigantic to carry around in any normal capacity. (though I do have a bandoleer holster that isn't too bad to haul it around in which I have on a couple hog scouting trips, no shots fired)

how do you guys store your ammo?

I'm getting a 9mm for my bday (it's bought an wrapped, so I have it, it don't have it have it) and I bought a couple hundred rounds of ammunition.

do you store the bullets in the boxes they come in?

Go rent one at your local range and shoot it first. You probably won't be so interested afterward. Let's put it this way... If I was running from someone who was trying to shoot at me I'd rather they have a DE 50 and not a 9mm, because my chances of making it out alive have greatly increased. The price of ammo alone is enough to make you not put that gun in your arsenal.

I've shot one. It's more of a "show" gun than anything

Not much of an armory here... my wish list is massive though. My primary piece... Walther p99c AS in 9mm. I love it. Fits me like a glove.

Have a few .22lr rifles as well (Ruger 10/22 and Savage 29 pump-action). Looking to get an officer's 1911 in the future. Would also love to build an AR 10/.308 AR rifle at some point.

Nice looking Walther. I'm not going to lie, I want to get a PPK .380, mostly because it's 007's gun.

We were not talking about the model 500, it is a deadly accurate weapon. We were talking about crap from Magnum Research.

I keep them in the boxes and store the boxes in ammo cans.

Understood. I was chiming in that while I think the Big Smith more practical than the DE it's still more a novelty than something most people will have any actual "use" for.

1923 Colt first gen SAA

1973 Belgian A-5 autoloader

1942(?) M1 Carbine (Rock-ola). All original.

Glock 19

Colt 1911A1 .45

Rock River Elite Operator 2 (love the rifle, hate the cheesy name...)

Savage hog hunter .308

Savage long range hunter 6.5 Creedmoor. Love love LOVE(!!!!) this rifle!!!

Maverick 88 12 ga. shotgun (short barrel house gun).

Bear hunting. Tree them and shoot up.

I did say "most people" have use for. Large caliber handgun hunting is easily the largest practical niche market for the caliber and it would excel in the role you mention. Behind that would probably be dangerous animal defense but even there "most" people prefer something easier to carry and shoot.

Post a pick of the SAA Colt....

Will do. It's actually a King conversion done in the late 1940's/early 1950's... I bought it at an estate sale ten years ago for 165 bucks (!!!) thinking I'd get it put back right... Did a little digging and found out there is a collector niche for these guns so I'm going to leave it as is....

here's my Taurus PT-100; 40 S&W

Look for the 6.5 (either Creedmoor or Grendel) to be wildly popular in the coming years....

The Grendel being set up for AR's does have an appeal. The .260/6.5C can be shot in AR's but you have to bump up to the AR10 platform.

The observation I was making is how the 6.5C offers essentially no ballistic difference to the .260 which has been around since the late 90's.

I suppose Remington hurt themselves by limiting itself to marketing the .260 as a deer round and only loaded for that purpose. The Creedmoor, right out of the gate, has been marketed and loaded as a "shooter" round.

great pick up for $165 bucks

I don't like the way Walthers look

I didn't buy it for looks, but I disagree nonetheless. I think it's gorgeous compared to a Glock or XD. Out of curiosity, what's your favorite looking polymer pistol? For me, Walther and HK are at the top of the list.

I agree. Used to be a .45acp lover. My pdw is a five seven. Peeps talk smack about stopping power, but you dont need the power when it is extremely accurate.

I like H&K, XDs and FNH. Not a huge fan of Glocks, aesthetically speaking

It's by far the best buy in my collection. I picked up the A-5 pretty cheap also at $150. That was almost 15 years ago. If the SAA was unmodified it would be worth ten times or more what I paid.... I've never sold a gun that I didn't live to regret doing so... I sold a guy my Winchester model 70 in 30-.06 with a BOSS barrel for $500.00.... Wish i had that one back for sure!! I'll buy several more guns in my time but I'll never sell another gun again.
