The Official #3 Tennessee vs. #11 Michigan NCAA Tournament Game Thread, 5:50 PM ET, CBS

Turning point was having a 6 pt lead and not adjusting to what Michigan was trying to do. We let them dictate the final 6 minutes of the game

KC had a sloppy, pretty much unforced turnover when we were up 6 with the ball. We score there, especially a 3 and we have them seriously on the ropes.

But instead the silly turnover and the momentum immediately changed. We never recovered.

If Vescovi plays half of what he did Thursday we aren't even having this conversation. You can't help or predict when your #2 key player lays an egg.
Tenn didn't play stupid or anything that makes you say "what is Barnes doing?". They only went cold for a little bit there. I thought their D was fine too and Michigan (big guy and Brooks) simply outplayed them.

That's pretty much it. Our advantage was guard play and theirs was their big. Our guards (except KC) couldn't throw it in the ocean, and it became an inside game, which they were going to win every time.

Up 60-54, if we hit a couple of shots and withstand that push, we win. Didn't happen, we went ice cold. My only complaint about Barnes was not getting a time out at some point when they had clearly gotten the momentum.

It's a damn shame with a team that looked like it was going to go further, but it is what it is.

Other than Grant Williams, name the last big man who could take over a game for us? They are few and far between. Maybe BHH or Aidoo will develop into one?

Just because we haven’t had one since Grant doesn’t mean we can’t ever have one. There are bigs all over the league that take over games.

I hope BHH and Aidoo develop into one as well.

I know. We started jacking up 3's and bricking them. You got to play smarter than that. Nothing was real crisp tonight. Looked a step slow. Let them be the aggressors most of the night, especially inside. Guy was getting a lot of friendly whistles too that helped them.
Good post until the last sentence.

That was the key moment. I was looking for a three to put the dagger in them, and that turnover was the beginning of the end.

On the money. I've made this point a few times myself. KC played well but this started a series of events that allowed them back in the game. I think we were coming off a timeout and the execution of the play was terrible because he lost the ball when that would've been a dagger.

Congrats to our boys on a good season and an SEC championship. Maybe this will light a fire for something special next season. In all honesty, I believed we would go further. We just did not shoot the ball well tonight from long range. We are no different from any other good team that got bounced. I mean Baylor got bounced a 4 seed got bounced and Kentucky. Im sure there are others. Upsets happen, thats tournament basketball. Michigan didn't have a good season, but the ball has bounced their way. Congrats to them. I'm proud of what our team accomplished

You’re getting so caught up in semantics. Please read my first post on this again. All I said was that Uros is unathletic (which you previously agreed with) and that he cannot be depended on to take over a game for us when our 3s aren’t hitting.

I have no issues with Uros as a bench player but that is all he should ever be on this team. I can tell he is a really well liked teammate too.
So you think all 5 of our starters should be offensively capable of taking over a game? Very very few teams have a lineup loaded with 5 super offensive players. Uros is a 7’ banger, rebounder, and occasional scorer who plays hard. There’s a reason he was a 3 star recruit. We’re not Kentucky several years back fielding a team of 3-5 first round draft picks and we won’t ever have that type of team.

So Michigan played disciplined defense to keep it at 6 fouls? It happens. Michigan certainly outplayed TN. in the last 7 minutes. You cannot blame it on refs so why bring up the discrepancy in fouls. It doesn’t matter.
I disagree, the discrepancy in fouls certainly mattered. When the more physical team is called for fewer fouls it shows an inconsistency in officiating.

Other than Tshiebwe, who’s the other one in the SEC? Maybe Castleton but he doesn’t just take games over

I was driving home to watch rest of game and listening to Kesling ...I knew better .. we were up 60-54 .. he says Michigan they are gassed .. we are just too fast for them .. we are playing terrific defense and we only have 5 turnovers .. I said thanks Bob .. just like that KC turned it over and that was it .. damn you Bob ..
