The Official #3 Tennessee vs. #11 Michigan NCAA Tournament Game Thread, 5:50 PM ET, CBS

How many interceptions did Jeremy Pruitt throw? Or Butch? Or Dooley? This is a common theme with Barnes accept it. Like I said yes he’s a good coach, I am grateful for him but he will never take us deep. That is obvious.
What could Barnes have done differently coaching that game in your opinion. Up 6 if ZZ hits that wide open 3 we win

Calls like Santiago’s third foul weren’t a result of him not playing smart. It was simply a bad call.
So there were zero calls that went against Michigan? Is that the play you referenced when the announcers were confused about who was called for the foul initially? If so , it appeared Santiago may have came down on the arm or wrist of the Michigan player fighting for a loose ball. You are looking at each call thru orange-tinted glasses. Stop blaming the refs for us being out scored by 14 points in the last 7 minutes or so of the ball game.

We may have to agree to disagree, I’m not blaming the officiating for the loss. If we had not gone cold on offense it wouldn’t have been an issue. The specific call on Santiago was by the book a foul, however, in reality those aren’t called, if so, the game would have been over in ten minutes because everyone would have fouled out!
I am simply saying the officiating was favorable towards Michigan. Your belief that Michigan was able to play aggressively without fouling and we weren’t is something that I disagree with.

If we scored on either of the two possessions we had at 60-54 it's a different game and Michigan is taken out of their comfort zone of working inside. I'll always believe that if the lead got to 8-9 pts. there it's game, set, match.

But then if Vescovi and JJJ hit even a few threes earlier you could say the same thing. The score staying close meant Michigan could stay with their game plan. It really is as simple as the 2-18 from three being the decisive factor.

He could have gotten BHH, Aidoo, and Uros heavily involved in getting their big man in foul trouble early... get it to them under the net and draw the foul... We have enough guys to sacrifice some fouls in order to get him in foul trouble... that's not even counting Fulky... That would be the main critique against Barnes... Clearly Mich game planned against Vescovi and it worked, we didn't change our game up at all in my opinion...

Lol if you believe those refs were gonna call a foul on their big guy

Draw a foul? Lol

We weren’t getting those calls.

Remember when the Michigan big pushed off Plavsic going for the ball? Not called.

How about constantly elbowing Plavsic in the chest? Not called.

How about Chandler getting fouled not once but twice underneath the basket? Not called.

If you think putting BHH back in the game was going to help us “draw a foul” against their bigs then your argument is invalid.

Honestly besides Kentucky, and Florida every so often. The SEC is a ****** basketball conference . I will admit I bought into the hype of this conference being really good . After getting beat by a 17-14 Michigan I will regress. Kids played hard though. Purdue will be a nightmare matchup for anybody, they have the jolly green giant playing for them.

It’s not a **** conference. There just aren’t any nights off in the SEC while the top of the Big 10 can sleep walk through half of their conference schedule.

Dude if our conference was good in basketball we all wouldn’t be bounced in the first 2 rounds of the tourney pretty much every year. Kentucky is the SEC when it comes to basketball

8 of 14 teams have Final Fours and 3 have NCs. Those 8 don’t even include Alabama and Tennessee. Both are in the top 41 D-1 teams in wins AND winning percentage. Try again.

Alabama- bounced
Kentucky-bounced
LSU- bounced
Tennessee- bounced
Auburn - about to be bounced
Once again their is Kentucky and that’s it. Mentioning Alabama in basketball that’s a joke right.

You’re not aware that Alabama has a really good basketball program? Educate yourself. CM Newton. Wimp. TR Dunn. Leon Douglas. Reggie King.

Yes they all have good basketball programs, but only Kentucky has a great basketball program consistently . All I’m saying. By the way all the big conferences are tough week in and week out in basketball. So what will be the excuse for Auburn , guess Miami wasn’t battle tested.

So you’re moving the description from the SEC is a ****** conference, to not a good conference and now it’s not a great conference. Stop. Posting.

Yes it is not a basketball conference sorry to hurt your feelings. One team in the sweet 16 numbers don’t lie.

The SEC probably has the best collection of coaches in the country. Players as well. The NCAAT is simply becoming more and more of a made for TV event instead of an actual measure of which teams are the best.

The tournament is all about matchups.

The SEC this year had wins against Arizona, Kansas, Gonzaga, Baylor, Houston. That’s the KenPom top 5. That doesn’t even include North Carolina (twice), Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Murray State, Memphis (twice), UAB, Notre Dame, Miami, Wake Forest, Richmond, Dayton, South Dakota State, Jacksonville State.

That is just what I knew and briefly checked. At least 17 wins against tournament teams outside the conference. The SEC was a very good conference.

Didn’t really see a lot of strategy playing out.

To be fair to Howard (likely Martelli), Michigan executed their offensive sets far better the first 2-3 minutes of each half. If someone is going to make a coaching argument, that's the one I'd make...

Ultimately if you just shoot average from 3, you win.
