This, 2-18 is just pitiful.
Barnes is an excellent regular season coach but below average in the tournament. It is what it is. This is 3x now with Barnes we’ve had a favorable bracket to the sweet 16 or more and we go out in the 1st or 2nd round.
There is no such thing as a “good regular season / bad tournament coach”This, 2-18 is just pitiful.

Ricks problem has been lack of recruiting quality bigs during the Alexander yrs. It’s been bad luck too though. People just don’t want to admit it. Lost Alexander in round one and couldn’t play against Loyola. Lost Fulky in SECT last year. Got a 50/50 foul called for the EE. I understand the frustration, but the luck has been terrible.
Anyone who blames Barnes is crazy. We just got outplayed across the board.
Absolutely, like I said the criticism is fair but my broader point was and is all fan bases have elements like that. I'm sure if you check on cats paws or whatever it is you'd see them bashing Cal and some idiots wanting him gone too.Lol criticize all you want. Its the extreme ass holes I am talking about. It's perfectly fine to say Barnes doesn't have a great tournament record. But crapping on a team that's probably one of the best we ever had, a team that won something that matter, a team that got absolutely shafted with the seeding and the bias in all of college sports officiating.... Yeah that team didnt get it done tonight and now the season is over. Disappointment is ok for us fans. But they also deserve rsspect for what they did accomplish. I promise they hurt worse than we do.
Agreed, but my fear is once we get better inside presence the outside presence will be lacking. Ziegler is going to be excellent, his help for the future isn't on this roster yet.Alexander was solid. We would have won today and been a FF team with Kyle Alexander. I admit, the bigs have struggled the last couple of years. But BHH and Aidoo are going to be good.
make that both Mich bigs., and moussa diabete, a frosh, and their backups did plenty of damageSo does UT throughout it's history.
How was Barnes outschemed? Their big man schooled all four of our big men with superior basketball and toughness and want-to.
Aidoo played well when he played and Barnes jerks him out. Fulk got out muscled tonight and played more minutes. Makes no senseAlexander was solid. A couple of take-aways for me:
1) NCAAT committee seeding is meaningless. There are so many overseeded and underseeded teams that it fosters the notion that there are upsets when there really aren't that many.
2) The SEC is a mediocre basketball conference at best.
3) Tennessee will never get a break in the NCAAT. If it isn't bad seeding, it's bad officiating. And if it isn't those things, it's bad luck. I've come to expect it every year because it cuts down on the level of disappointment.
We aren't mediocre but as a conference we certainly aren't as good as I thought we were. I thought we were possibly the best conference by a fair margin, I don't believe that after two rounds in the tourney. The SEC wasn’t mediocre. The tournament is a different animal and just about matchups. The SEC teams get 3 P5 11 seeds while the Big Ten 7 seeds got 2 mid majors. Michigan State wins by one, and Ohio State wins with 54 points when Loyola scores 41. Is that what we are discussing?
