The Official #4 Tennessee @ Arkansas Game Thread, 7:30 PM ET, ABC

Man. Another soul-shaking loss just when you thought you were over the hump. It's what Tennessee does. It's what Tennessee fans must endure. I understand that this team can still win some meaningful games but we also have learned they can lose them just as easily. No rest for the weary, especially Tennessee fans.

This might be a very different game than what many people expect. I look for a dogfight down to the last play.
Dang, I hate being right sometimes. We were an unproven football team and failed the golden opportunity in front of us. This is not a playoff team and has a few more losses ahead.

I think the team and the coach got overconfident.
Look like a team that walked around for two weeks being patted on the back and told how great they are and believed it.
You would have thought that, given by the opening kickoff we knew Vandy had beaten #1 Bama, our mindset would be in the right place to play intense, focused football.
But that mindset has to be there all week in practice. You can't coast thru a week of preparation and then realize you better get serious at kickoff.
Dylan Sampson said as much in his post-game comments.

Exactly. History is a helluva teacher....if one is willing to learn.

Bama let Vandy score 40 and lost tonight lol. This offense has flaws they better figure out quickly, but let’s not overreac

Rat poison

Said they took things for granted and were lacksidaiscal during the off week
That’s a player leadership issue. Early on it was “foot on their throat” mentality to now took things for granted. Championship teams don’t have “lackadaisical” weeks. Whose team is it? Who’s the vocal/lead by example alpha holding players accountable?

Our defense is pretty good. You can't leave them on the field all night with our 3 & outs. Time of possession for Arky. : almost 21 minutes.
Vandy puts 40 on Bama. Giving up 15 and 19pts. in the SEC is darn good but if the offense doesn't improve, we are in for a long season.

Boo Carter and his Belt to ass Twitter posts needs to be shut down also. I think we believed we were gonna walk in and destroy this team. Welp found out quickly that is dangerous in this league. Lock in learn from it and take the next game serious no matter who it is. Prepare the right way with focus and not getting caught up in the press. I think it would serve well for even our fans to get a dose of humble pie. Lot of talk about blowing them out the last two weeks. We really did look like we were shocked they came to play.

It was a dumb mindset and obviously it was with the players as well. Very rarely are sec vs sec games complete blowouts. There’s enough talent spread around in this league that it doesn’t happen often. Many of our fans, and the players felt they were going to go into Fayetteville and win before they even got off of the bus. You could see it in their body language.

Even though I hate Florida, either this game is the “Tim Tebow speech” moment for our team where we buckle down and decide we aren’t ever letting this happen again, or we feel sorry for ourselves and finish 8-4/7-5 and play in the music city bowl.
