The Official #4 Tennessee vs. #15 Missouri Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, SEC Network

It was refreshing to see them win a game where they had to score a lot. Igor’s last two games have been his best here, and I’m hoping that maybe a little break for ZZ may have allowed him to find his legs and his shot going forward. I wouldn’t expect those two to shoot like that all the time, but if they can both hit from outside at 35% or better going forward, that would be the added scoring punch we need.

I missed entire FL since I was @ work so…
First, I'm just happy the Vols won. Mizzou is an excellent team. Lots of things lined up against us.

Coach Barnes' family tragedy.
Emotional hangover from the UF win.
Players and coaches recovering from the flu.

Then we had a bad first half with lots of turnovers and rarely guarding their 3 point shots.

Great halftime adjustments, much better focus and intensity. The dunk plays were huge for momentum.

I wasn't a fan of the complete slowdown at the end. Too many empty trips due to not starting the offense in time to get a good shot. At least two unguarded threea passed up.

But...saved by the big lead, free throw shooting, and defense. I'll take it.

If you have a 14 point lead with under 5 minutes left it would be coaching malpractice to not milk the clock. Especially when your opponent hasn’t made a field goal in 6 minutes.

The percentages are that it’s nearly impossible to lose if you work the clock in that scenario. Missouri made 3x 3-pointers, 2x 2s, and 7x free throws in the last 4:30 and it still wasn’t enough.

I suppose I should articulate my point a little better. The character swipes at players

Seriously? Displays of lack of character cannot ever be a positive, not a break even either. Discretion is a terrible thing to waste. Fortunately the players did not try to justify THEIR early execution.

Guys, I could not have been more blatantly facetious. I guess I forgot the blue or green font, whichever it is.

Agree. The problem wasn't on offense, it was the silly fouls (those that were actually fouls) and that dreadful turnover on the missed FT where they hit a 3 to make it a 10-point game when they were about to quit.. Play a clean game and hit our free throws and it's a 10-12 point win.

Huge opportunity tomorrow. Road game vs a ranked opponent. Quite the feather in the cap when it comes down to seeding. Not the impact a win over Auburn would have had, but still pretty darned nice. Having said that, coming off the win vs Mizzou and having an eye on UK, this one feels like yet another of those trap games. UT doesn't seem to take advantage of these "opportunity" games in most cases.

Actually we have generally won these types of games over the past few seasons. The record clearly reflects it
