These guys need to go at least 5-1 over the next 2 weekends to be where they want to be in regards to hosting a regional/Super. 0-6 over the last 2 weekends isn't out of the realm of possibility, especially given they've shown they can lay an egg with the best/worst of them.
Fact: midweek games this time of the year are worthless and the only team that wants to play them is the little brother type schools.
SEC players damn sure don’t have their mental edge geared up to play these games
Tonight’s game is meaningless
4-2 with two series wins keeps Tennessee squarely in the Super Regional discussion, so by no means do the Vols need to go "at least" 5-1 to "be where they want to be" for hosting games in Knoxville.
Good grief... one loss to an inferior opponent and the BVS sets in?
Given the fact that in the last 5 years no SEC team was a top 8 national seed in the NCAA tournament with fewer than 18 conference wins, I'll believe it when I see it.
Does that mean they could host the Super if they're top 16 and the national seed loses the regional, yeah, but I was under the impression we were trying to get past the point of relying on others to fail to get to where we want.
This may be a good pointMy thoughts are that this year, because they are deciding host sites two weeks earlier than normal, the old math might not apply. Same with RPI and SOS, with every conference doing their own thing due to Covid, gonna be difficult to take normal metrics and apply them to this post season.

Maybe so. But in all honesty, I'm not sure 2-1 against a bad Mizzou team will be that impressive, which brings us to my 5-1 threshold.
Good post hereTough night for our fellas. It’s baseball and it happens, especially at this time of year when it’s a grind.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about our team this season is that they are resilient. I have faith that they will learn from this, flush it, and have an edge when they play Kentucky Thursday night. There’s very little time to dwell anyway.
I also think there were some positive takeaways from tonight. I thought McLaughlin and Sewell both pitched well enough to help down the stretch.
Anyways, bring on Kentucky!
