The Official #5 Tennessee vs. #6 Alabama Game Thread, 4:00 PM ET, ESPN

Nate Oats Postgame: "For 39 and a half minutes they (his team) outplayed them (Tennessee), we were up 4 with 30 seconds to go. Tough call on Grant's verticality, there at the end. That's basketball." Never once said a thing about Tennessee. Just kept repeating that they were up 4 with 30 seconds to go and had outplayed Tennessee, and his mistakes cost Alabama the win.

I wonder if ol' Oaty Bar found that call tougher than the no call on absolutely tripping Zeigler?

I’m sure Barnes is glad they didn’t give him that timeout!!! 😳😂
Someone may have already posted this but Rick said in the postgame interview that he was trying to get a timeout to try to set up something besides a half court shot. But then he laughed and said he was very happy the refs didn’t see him.

They were 41%/37% for the game (and change) so second half by itself had to be lower. Shack has really come around on his shooting. Up until about 5 games ago I was begging him not to shoot 3s, even if wide open. He’s prove me wrong though and has hit some huge 3s for us, none bigger than tonight!
We held them to 31.25% FG and 35.71% 3PT in the second half.

After watching the replay, the officials were even worse than I thought. Tons of b.s. that went Bama's way for them to even be in it. Chaz was shoved to the floor from behind, right in front of an official, no call, and Bama got a three point play out of it. When Nelson got hurt on the Mashack play, he fouled Mashack who was clearly in front of him on the loose ball. But Mashack gets called and they get two free throws. Huge moving screen on the Sears three that made it 73-70, after Bama stood in the lane 5 seconds holding the ball.

I’ll take Mashack on my team any day of the week! That dude is a winner!
I thank momma Mashack for her gift to volnation!

Thank you ma'am..........

And thank you Mashack, hardest worker on this team...... epitome of team player. Always competing and doing what it takes for the team to get the win. I'm happy he gets to bask in the spotlight right now........ He deserves it!

Sears stepping on Ziegler's foot .... and fmi .... who gave Igor that long neck scratch???
Unbelievable game!!!!

I just want to make it known, I was in full agreeance with that Jordan Moore guy about the Vols being a more efficient team and had a better +/- when Gainey was on the floor with the other 4 starters than Mashack. And I do still agree with the stats and with him to a certain extent. Even tho there may be some games where you desperately need some offense and he’s not a go-to guy to produce offense, he brings other things to the table that can’t be taught and I would rather have a guy that fights for every inch and works his tail off rather than a guy with all the talent in the world and doesn’t have that fight in him that Mashack has. Mashack is the guy that wins you those games in March when you need a crunch time stop or a single play to turn the momentum. He’s a glue guy and the true backbone of the team. And I might say some things about him during games when I get frustrated with his lack of offensive production but there ain’t no way I’d be okay with another team having him. Props to Mashack and screw haters like me. Go Vols and let’s get that 1-seed and good draw.
