The Official #5 Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt Game Thread, 9:00 PM ET, SEC Network

Call the game - talk all that other bs with your buddy afterwards at the hotel bar

I was just referring to him being neutral. But, maybe I don’t pay too close attention, but I think Dane only gets off topic when his play by play guy starts the conversation. Dane seems to talk basketball until Tom Hart talks about something off topic.

Just because you’re challenged to a fight, it doesn’t mean you have to participate?

Uhh ok. He can’t just tell his partner- “I’m sticking to basketball.” That would be awkward. Storylines in games sometimes lead to off topics. He talked about Chris Lofton for a minute after being prompted. I’m not bent out of shape about it like I guess you are.

With UK losing tonight, we now have the third longest active home winning streak in the country at 25. We're only behind Gonzaga (Do they even play top 25 non-conference teams at home) at 75 and Auburn at 27.

Our SC blowout was much better commentated and on topic. This was a rivalry game and we were down at half and win by single digits. If you can’t stay on topic for that then some ADHD drugs might be warranted. Just call the game please

Despite having 8 losses, only one of Vandy’s losses is by double digits. They look like they have some great half court sets and a decent amount of offensive talent. One big problem is their starters are solid defensively but don’t have much offensive talent, while the reserves have plenty of offensive talent but no defensive abilities. At least that’s what I saw in the one game I bothered to watch of them.

I think Vandy has several nice players, especially Wright and Robbins. Stack has recruited shooters which makes them dangerous if a few of them get hot from deep in the same game. I expect them to have a winning SEC record. We have a good team with a strong core of players who’ve been together 3+ years which is a big advantage over others with higher turnover. We have the ability to make teams look worse than they are as shown by SC beating the kitties JMO

I'll say this officiating is always bad, and when it's a late game where they expect less eyes on it they send out the B or C team crew to officiate so it's even more inconsistent.

I also wish the announcers treated it a bit more like radio, I was sick all last week and tried to watch the Texas Tech vs Kansas game. I couldn't see well so I just had the TV going and my eyes closed and laying there trying to listen to what was going was a real eye opener to how bad these announcers are.

I mean for those who didn't watch that was a back and forth game, and there was probably a good stretch of action where the announcers didn't update the score at all or talk about what was happening on the court. Just off on some side story that had nothing to do with the game they were announcing.

Last night's games were very interesting

#2 Kansas was down to unranked Oklahoma with less than 2 minutes left (they managed to squeak out a 4 point win)
#11 Kansas State was down by 2 at the half to OK State, but managed to beat them
#13 Virginia was down by 2 to unranked UNC
#18 Wisconsin lost by 4 to unranked Michigan State
#21 Auburn was losing to Ole Miss at the half before pulling away
South Carolina upsets Kentucky in Rupp Arena
Florida upsets LSU in Baton Rouge after trailing at the half

I think we just didn't open the game focused on defense. Vandy was shooting over 40% from the field and over 38% from deep at half they finished the game at 38% from the field and just 22.2% from deep.

If Jonas can make this a consistent element in his game then the sky is the limit for him.
Assuming he stays healthy I think he’s a national breakout candidate next year…likely sees his minutes increase up around 28-30mpg, could see him putting up 13-15ppg/8-10rpg/2-3bpg

After the beatdown of SC on the road that 17.5 line at home was definitely appealing, but Vandy always plays out of their mind against us no matter how bad they've been playing, historically.

Is it possible that the "Manningcast" has now become THE standard for a bunch of wannabes? Hope you feel better.
