The Official #6 Tennessee @ #1Auburn Game Thread, 8:30 PM ET, ESPN

Maybe this team will improve and hit its stride in March. They aren’t a final four team imo as not enough offense. And we saw last yr that the refs call the game tighter in the dance.

Regroup, get Cade healthy and figure out how to wake up Igor and Chaz. - consistency!

They needed Broome tonight. Many of our posters declared they could win without him. Not so fast
Of course they need him. He's able to hook, shove, grab, over the back, maul and lower his shoulder at will. But dear God don't look at him for fear of a whistle.

I personally didn’t mind the officiating. They seemed consistent all game in that they let them play. Even some ticky tack calls got made up….

Sadly, this aggressive and tough style of play won’t be treated like this in the tournament because we are “too rough”
I don't disagree until Tennessee grabbed a 4-pt lead inside 3 minutes. At that point, there was a significant and palpable shift in the officiating slanted towards Auburn's favor. Broome pulling down Okpara and it being called a walk, Gainey's 5th foul going for the rebound, among others.

Many are cool with whatever Tennessee does. Good, bad, brilliant, or nonsensical. Doesn’t matter.

It was a bad call though, make no mistake.
Any many complain about everything, nonstop.

Open shots weren't exactly easy to come by all night. He had a good look, just didn't knock it down.

Sure. Point is, SEC regular season title ain’t happening. The goal should be a number 1 seed. Huge homestead here with Kentucky, Florida, and Missouri
I’d say we are looking at a 2 or 3 seed. I just don’t see us having the offense to win enough for a 1 seed at this point. Really what matters is getting a favorable draw more so than the highest seed possible.

Game stats. One less offensive rebound by Broome and we may have a different outcome. Chaz, Igor and Okpara need to understand every possession counts. You can’t takeoff possessions. Rebounding was about the same except Auburn had the offensive rebound edge.

They let them play even more in the tourney. Did you watch the Duke game w years ago.

Definitely bad both ways and they let it get out of control. But the horrible walking call on Felix when Broome grabbed him and pulled him down at a critical time when we had the lead was egregious. How none of the 3 refs saw that is ridiculous.

They saw it. They were not going to call that game evenly late. Three distinct officiating styles in that game. First was to mostly allow total chaos with very little consistency to calls and allowing lots of physical play with an occasional arbitrary foul. Got Igor 3 and multiple Barn players had 2.

Then the game cleaned up some but calls tended to pile up for Vols in foul trouble but only for one Auburn player. Still, it was acceptable and then they completely went off the reservation in the final 2 minutes when we started to build a small lead. Completely unacceptable.

Yep. I’m cool with if you are not going to call Broome grabbing but don’t call a walk just play on.

Broome walked on that last rebound as well.

It was a hard fought loss. Nothing to be ashamed of. I had this as a loss in the line of the next 4 games. We can easily win our next 3 and get back into the SEC race. Here in 3 weeks we will be 20-3 and 7-3 in the SEC. I really don’t think we are losing at home. We are a totally different team at home this year.
Funny thing is this loss should help solidify our 1-2 line seed. Winning at home will enhance that too. If we win out at home, we're a 1 or 2 seed

Well we can’t control our draw, but we can control our seed line. So the goal should be a one seed since that is still definitely attainable. A team that is one play away from beating Auburn at home is able to win enough to earn a one seed, just the matter of doing it
