The Official #6 Tennessee @ Alabama Weekend Series Thread (Game 1 Friday @ 7PM) (Game 2 Saturday @ 7PM) (Game 3 Sunday @ Noon)

Don't know what it is with Bama and UF. Just seems like a recurring nightmare when they pop up on the schedule no matter the sport. Crap just seems to go wrong for us.
Naaah. We swept bama the last time we played them. Took 2 of 3 from Florida in Gainesville the last time we played them. We are fine. I think you are looking for the football forum.

Vanderbilt also has a top 5 offensive team[/QUOTE]

It doesn't get mentioned because the announcers are slobbering all over their starting pitchers, but yes, on offense they are really good. Didn't see them getting fooled too much and they square up pitches thrown down the middle. Even if they somehow get to their pitching, teams are gonna have to out hit them, and they seem to score in bunches.
Best team a decided money-advantage can buy. I hate'em, maybe they'll eat bad gumbo tonite and have to forfeit.

I hate to say it but it might be them and then everyone else not only in the SEC but NCAA...think you try to not get fooled by pitches make them throw strikes and hopefully get Leiter and Rocker's pitch counts so they are gone in time to rally
My head tells me you are right, my heart tells me we’re taking the series and crushing their souls!😎
GBO!!

Word on the street in Nashville is Rocker and Leiter have friction. Leiter has made it known that he wouldn’t mind pitching on Friday and Rocker didn’t take it well.

Anyone noticed Rocker has lost 4-5 mph on his fastball? I don’t know what that pitching coach has them doing over a 3 year period but whatever they are doing over the long haul is definitely not good for Rocker’s velo. Rocker was 94-98 his freshman year and now he is legit 89-92. For this reason he is hittable now and has lost the 1/1 on draft day. Luckily for Leiter he won’t have to do their off season pitching workouts again, else he could lose his velo as well. Maybe they are doing weighted ball training which builds unsustainable velo for the long haul.

By regional/super regional time both of these max effort pitchers will be worn down and beatable. If LSU had more patience (innings 2-6) they draw 6 or 7 walks against Leiter last night. I’m calling it now, Vandy doesn’t make it out of the supers.

Mercy mercy mercy now VN is questioning the pitching coach at Vandy

mind you it’s the same poster that thinks EKU is a solid team. Btw they fell last night to The always tough peay team 15-9. EKU is now 8-16 and 3-7 in the OVC

I just gave you 3 facts about Vandy’s top 2 starters.

1. Rocker has went from probable 1/1 to no
chance in hell of being 1/1.
2. His fastball went from freshman year sitting
94-98 to junior year fastball sitting 89-93.
3. Leiter and Rocker are max effort pitchers
and max effort pitchers tend to lose velo
or injure their arm toward the end of the
year.

This isn’t arguable, this is industry wide data and observations from D1 Baseball, Baseball America, and MLB scouts.

Bruin you sure can be a clown sometimes and other times (when meds are right) be what seems to me as an alright guy. Hone in the alright guy and explain Rocker’s considerable velo drop over 3 years in that pitching program.

I said hone the alright guy and you went and got the clown.

Fact: I never said Vandy’s pitching coach was bad or doing a bad job. You twisted words again as usual.

I said Rocker’s velo has dropped 4-5 mph over 3 years in the program and it will cost him in the draft. That’s another fact you cannot dispute. I only offered a possible reason why could be weighted balls but I don’t know that. Which is why I asked you Bruin to explain this. Of course you didn’t attempt to, you only twisted my words and avoided the question.

Well .....

I guess you are going to tell me “not good” doesn’t mean “bad” pure comedy lol

still think 8-16 3-7 EkU is a solid team??

So me stating a FACT... Whatever that pitching coach has had them doing over the last 3 years has Rocker’s velo down 5-6 mph from Freshman to Junior year. That isn’t calling the guy a bad coach, that is stating a fact that has being noticed in a big way by people that matter.

Again, don’t dodge and weave here. Explain why his velo is down significantly over 3 years.
It’s literally a 1-3 million dollar question because that is what that velo drop will cost him.

Could be an injury and not the coaching.....

Perhaps it’s serious perhaps it’s not but the perception would hurt him just like it hurt GC last year. Since he hasn’t missed any time if the velo goes back up I doubt it matters much

Anyone who follows college baseball shouldn’t be surprised by that stat. Every game they seem to score 7+.
They’re basically a minor league team in college. I don’t see how UT can ever get out of their shadow without some sort of scholarship reform at the NCAA level.

Lol, you give them way too much credit.
They have players on their team that TN recruited and vice versa. Took Corbin longer than it has taken Vitello to become relevant.
Give it a few more years and you will see this venue like most see Tony’s program. Fantastic

At minimum UTK needs to offer a tuition reduction/offset for out of state kids from certain areas of the country but it has to be done across the entire student body. It’s not like a big state school has a problem attracting kids from out of state but it only helps diversify and de-regionalize the student population. My first experience seeing that was in grad school at WKU where they started with border counties in middle TN, southern IN, IL and OH. They’ve since expanded it to practically every metro area around the southeast. It’s allowed them to expand their footprint and become more of a national or expanded regional university and they’ve used it to their advantage in partial scholarship sports so they’re not solely reliant on KY players. It’s my understanding that at least Miss St and Arkansas, in the SEC, offer this and maybe more.

You really are on a bad roll lately around here

Corbin went 45-19 in year 2 after taking over a much much worse program than TV took over
Look at his schedule before starting up the clown mobile again. I am talking ranked top 10 in the country anyway, like we are now.

One could argue that Serrano had figured out what it takes to win in the SEC but it took him too long to adjust.

Oh good grief dude

Corbin year 2
vandy 45-19 16-14

TV year 2
40-21 14-16

don’t insult our intelligence by making more BS up around

Hell Bruin I seriously wonder where your true allegiance lies. Somewhere around the mid state seems to me.

Preseason you are on Vitello about recruiting like everyone else isn’t doing it. Constantly negative toward the Vols and always taking up for the enemy.
