The Official #7 Tennessee vs. #13 Maryland Game Thread, 4:30 PM ET, FS1

We got this now TV timeout gave Barnes time to get them settled but don’t think we keep them under 50 which looked like a foregone conclusion earlier.

Refs are only blowing the whistle one day and we stopped getting calls when we pushed to the rim. They went to the three because otherwise we were just getting hammered at the basket and turning it over.

Way the game is being called helped Maryland get back in it. The refs are still calling this game all over the place. Both teams get hammered going inside and nothing is called. Then a hand poke gets called.

Its early in the season. Team needs to learn how to respond to Maryland's momentum. They need to learn to calm themselves and not panic. Calling a timeout can heighten the panic. I don't see the need to defer to it when the other team is on a run.

We’re going to miss Chandler more than we thought.

Ball pressure gets to this team, including Z. Also suspect shooting w/o any type of offensive identity is a recipe for disaster - similar to last yr’s losses including Michigan.

There has to be one or two players on this team who can score inside or make intermediate jump shots. Idk the answer to handing full court pressure as that is simply guard play.
Go Vols!

Man, Santi has had a few that looked good just not fall.

Great rebound by Phillips there.

Edit- case in point Z dribbles ball off foot and Vescovi w another three ball miss. Horrible shooting

Seems like we always tend to hit these cold spots where we cannot buy a shot. This is why we often get pushed out of tourney early. I think they try to play heavy defense to focus on mitigating these droughts but this has cost us often in March. The Michigan game last year was a great example.
