Yeah saw one player got called for targeting for doing just that and he tackled in the stomach.

It’s dumb but the rule is written this way and they will call you on it
Saw one today where guy got tossed for targeting and "lead with the crown" of his helmet and hit an airborne receiver in the butt.

I don't like the rule but it was called correctly tonight according to the current rule.

The person called for targeting can get hurt leading with his helmet. It's to discourage the practice. To protect both players.
 
For you guys who dislike rules against lowering your head, even into someone's chest, you might want to check out Tua lowering his head and hitting Hamlin.

It might be the last hit Tua ever takes. It's dangerous to lead with your head as a runner or when tackling.
