Huepel is not looking at UT as a stepping stone to get back to his alma mater. Huepel has experienced our fans and our resources. If he continues on this trajectory to finish the year, he will be paid handsomely and be a top 3 coach in the SEC in salary.
He obviously has a great relationship with Danny White to trust him enough to accept the train wreck we were at that time. And he has the players, coaches, admin and fans all on his side now.
And OU is a lesser job that UT. Especially after Venables gets done with it.

Dickey left for Florida and then we had two guys that played at Tennessee coach for decades. Then the only coach (Kiffin) that somebody else wanted left. Huepel will be wanted so grab some popcorn and wait for hopefully a happy ending.Other than Kiffin (who later regretted his decision), what other head coach have we lost to another college head football coach position?
