The Official #8 Tennessee @ Arkansas Game Thread, 9:00 PM ET, ESPN2

Good performance tonight. Played a bad team in a half empty gym and beat the snot of them. Said earlier this week as have others that Aidoo is the X factor. When he plays well, everything else takes care of itself. That held true tonight (although against a team absent of a decent post player). Need to see him play at a high level against the better teams going forward for this team to reach its potential. Great game from Gainey as well. Good to see him shoot the ball so well.

Two more games upcoming against bottom feeder teams that should be straightforward wins for Tennessee. After that, the gauntlet begins. Every team has holes, so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the last couple of weeks of the season.

Aside from that most of my takeaways center around how shockingly bad Arkansas is. No chemistry amongst that team. Fans have no belief in that bunch as evidenced by the thousands of empty seats tonight. Musselmen doesn’t even seem to be as engaged as he historically is. Regardless of if the rumors are true of Arky’s locker room activities, that team is dysfunctional and Musselmen looks like a coach who can’t wait for the season to end.
Arkansas has no physicality at all. Not impressed with them but we seemed focused and took it to them. Off just a touch defensively in the first half. Forced them into jumpers but a little late on the close outs

In the words of that great American Roy D. Mercer: “Hey Razorbacks. How long has it been since you had a good ole country ass whoopin?”
It had been 11 full days since they lost by 21 to LSU. They’re getting a lot of whoopins this year.

I think he's checked out and headed out after the season ends. Jefferson, too.
I think so too. Usually when guys don’t make it with Barnes, they end up showing why when they move on. Burns has had moments , Pember has had nice career with lesser competition, BHH has done fairly well for a losing team, but I don’t recall other transfers going on and being that good.

First half defense was certainly off. Second half was elite. At the 4:30 minute mark of the second half, Arkansas had only scored 15 points for the entire half. Great defensive performance. Have to take into account the competition, but tonight was very encouraging after we got punked by A&M.

Nice comfortable win. Aidoo was tremendous. Gainey gave excellent and efficient scoring punch. Our perimeter shooting was sub-par but we still hung 92 pts on the board. That's rare.
Gainey and Vescovi may need to swap minutes. We need this version of Aidoo the rest of the year. Or at least when it counts.

BHH actually showed a ton of promise and was playing with lots of energy toward the end of that season. Just got bad advice and transferred to a dumpster fire. Could’ve been really good here I think.

None of those names are missed. If we do lose those 2, just hope we kill it in the portal with the two spots. Gonna need a lot of help going into next season with our losses.

Arkansas IMO just doesn’t look like team but more like a bunch playing for the name on the back of their jersey 🤷

We only made 5 3’s. I remember JJJ making one early from the top of the key and I think Gainey made 3. Did ZZZ have one?

Was the first half defense off or did the hogs shoot way way above their 3 point average? Didn’t they hit 7 or 8 in the first half?

They shot light out for sure, but not trying to be a “nega”, we didn’t close on the threes very well especially on the corner shots.I think we have work to do on this when we play AU, AL, KY.

They did. Typically if a team is that hot, though, it isn’t 100% an accident. Typically means they’ve had some good looks. Did a lot better with our close outs and staying in front of drivers on the second half.

I think that might have been part of the game plan both against A&M and Ark. neither of them has been a good 3 point shooting team this year, so it makes some sense to pack the paint and dare them to shoot.

How about Rick trusting DK to guard Mack after SV had so much trouble early on? He’s improved so much on that end - he may be our second best perimeter defender right now.
You must be high… he’s still at most an average defender. We have at least 5 guys better as a perimeter and help defender than him. Which isn’t a bad thing with how good we play D…
