The Official #8 Tennessee vs. Texas Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, ESPN

ZZ with 702 assists now for his career just 14 away from being the all-time career holder and he sets the single season record with 230 and counting.

Chaz moves into 3rd with 3 point makes at 107, he needs 12 to pass Lofton for the single season record.
Impressive that Zeigler got the record in the 1st game of the SECt instead of deep in the NCAA

Why are so many worried about calls or not calls up 10 with half a minute left. Just something to complain about, I guess.
Bad call is a bad call, who cares what the score is lmao, what a silly thing to say. “Why would you complain about getting shorted on your paycheck when you already have thousands in your savings account?”

Texas shot 10-27 (37% FG), 0-8 (0% 3PT), 14-17 (82.4% FT) in the second half scoring 34 points.

100% officials kept them from getting blown out by 20 or more.

We also shot 16-24 (66.7% FT) in the 2nd half, so they just started calling everything

29 fouls called in 2nd half they only called 14 in the 1st half....that's the lack of consistency the bulk of us complain about when we say "these refs suck" it's not that we're having fouls called on us...it's that they call two different games half to half.

Felix just played 24 minutes because of 2nd half foul trouble, ZZ only played 29 minutes because of 1st half foul trouble

Great game from Mashack, scored 13 points 7 rebounds, 4 assist and 1 steal...was a big part of why Tre Johnson only scored 11 points on 3-8 shooting (and 4 of his points were at the line) he also had 3 turnovers. Shack put the clamps on 'em

Hard to pick a player of the game...

1st half Chaz for sure
2nd half ZZ for sure

Playing 35 minutes (lead the team) and doing all he did Shack could also get the nod.

Very good game from Igor despite getting put on 2 posters. 12 points on 4 of 10 shooting, 7 rebounds 3 blocks and 2 steals in his 31 minutes.

Not to mention Cade’s activity. He was all over the place.

The answer is simple: It makes fans question the integrity of the officials. Especially in a sport that has a history of point shaving.

When the line is 9.5, and a player on the team with the 10 point lead has a player from the other team literally ON HIS BACK! and it is called a jump ball, not a foul, well, that makes fans question the legitimacy of the end results.

You may not think so, and that is fine, but you can't in good faith say that fans don't have a gripe. Especially in betting states. (Disclosure: I am not a bettor for any number of reasons, but if I were so inclined, what I have seen from NCAA refs would keep me from laying any money down on a basketball game.)

We should have a bunch of nil money to spend next year. We should go after that Texas albino looking dude. He’s a Mashack clone with a little more offensive confidence.

Jesus, we had Phillips blatantly foul a three point shooter for no reason toward end of game. Guy proceeded to hit all three.
I guess we need to investigate Phillips for a nitwit foul .

Right. The fact they made that jump ball call on the back jumping shows a serious issue with their judgement. Just because it was at a point in the game that it didn’t impact the result doesn’t mean it won’t in the future.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings. The guy asked a question. I gave an answer. Heck, two posts above mine someone posted they were happy we covered. Betting is real. Point shaving is real. Basketball is a mediocre cold weather game that exists to pass the time between football and baseball.

Get pissed at the messenger all you want, I am just offering on opinion/answer to the guy’s question. Feel free to offer yours. 🤷‍♂

Won’t change my opinion: NCAA basketball officials are TRASH. I’ve been to and watched enough NBA games to see good officials. Those guys know what they are doing. Today’s weren’t good.
