The Official #9 Tennessee @ #8 Ohio State Game Thread, 8:00 PM ET, ABC/ESPN

Oh no I agree. And this isn’t me bashing Nico. I love the kid’s fight. It’s definitely a culmination of everything. But as a QB, this is what separates good to great.

Again, I’d love to know how he’s being coached. Like where are your eyes supposed to be? What defender(s) are you reading pre & post snap? Who’s your alert? Who’s you’re hot? Not a lot of answers with this coaching/playcalling

I am sure he is being coached all the right things but when you get your bell rung and the whole box is stacked and your Oline is dogsheet, its easy for a young player to forget to slow it down. Granted, not many QBs do well under pressure but it is what separates the good from the great.

We’re done guys, we can’t stop them they are doing whatever they want. We have major defencies on defense. OL is soft. Needs to be coaching changes at the coordinator level. We look like a mid tier sec team. I’m glad we made it to the playoff but honestly this is embarrassing. Would have been better to go to a regular bowl game and beat up on some mid tier big ten team

Or Tennessee is a good football team and Ohio State is just a really good football team and not defined by that one game against Michigan. Ohio State could just be a vastly more talented team. Is that an option?

You are likely correct to an extent. But this performance tonight shows some concerning issues with coaching, preparation, and playcalling.

Heup has done so much for our program and we would be absolutely idiotic to start our usual eating our own when it comes to him. But all bets are off if he doesn’t make some meaningful coaching changes, even on guys he’s buddies with. And be real about why the offense changed so much from 2022 to today.

This game will serve as a humbling splash of ice water in the face for the program. Got lots of work to do in all areas.
So what will we do? Stop under- recruiting the top half of the conference? Stop retaining under performing assistants? This is our ceiling. There won't be any wholesale changes and Spyre is getting out-spent by other collectives. I think the best thing we could do is bring in a analyst to manage the NIL budget.

Now way I'd throw this kind of money at a QB again. If go all in on the offensive line.

Our team seems quite a bit slower than Ohio State. Our defensive schemes have gone to hell. I thought Pearce was going to be a top draft pick. He sure has disappeared as the season has gone along. I thought the earlier games today had several teams that didn't deserve to be in the playoff. Add one more to that total.
