Barnes said that he needed to call a time out but wanted to save them for late. He said that the nets needing to be repaired was huge because it allowed ZZ to get a long rest.

Reality for today: There is a reason none of us are coaching Tennessee and Barns is……..he probably knows what he’s doing……….and we probably don’t.

14/15 Ft's is awesome but gave up 14 OREB. That is way too many second chance points. (long rebounds off missed 3's can be difficult) I'm afraid we do this against a good shooting team(s) and it will hurt us badly. Have to get better on the defensive end, when a shot goes up, find a man and put him on your hip!
Any road win is a nice win though! Now let's continue the 2nd half over to LSU.

18 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 5 TOs for Phillips
24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 5 TOs for ZZ
13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal for JJJ

ON is such a mixed bag, he did rebound this game and snagged 9 but only offered 7 points on just 3 FGAs. It's like he only puts in effort in one area in a game.

Uros had a big fall to earth from his Kentucky performance and had the lowest production night of the bigs with just 2 points and 2 rebounds, Awaka had 4 points, 2 blocks and 1 rebound in his minutes and Aidoo offered 4 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 points in his minutes.

Real disappointed in Mashack, still inexperienced though so can't hold it against him too much, but if he wants to play significant minutes next year he's gotta find a way to offer more than 0-4 with 1 TO.

What's crazy though we missed Santi the most on defense, ZZ was on Davis most the game and played well against him. But we had no answer for Moore...neither JJJ, Phillips, or Mashack really was effective against him and I feel like Santi would have held him in check more.


Big win, actually HUGE win considering who we had out and how the game started.

Finishing the game with 45.1% FG, 41.7% 3PT, and 93.3% FT = why we walked away from them in the 2nd half.

The two biggest things that had to happen in the second half for us to win we did! ZZ played incredible and Phillips showed up big time. There were other issues as well (JJJ playing 33 minutes too), but those two were the biggest issues.

If we go 15-3 in conference with wins against Alabama, Kentucky in Rupp, Auburn, Georgia, etc. AND a victory over Kansas there is no way we aren’t a 1-seed. 15-3 just feels a lot tougher now due to that UK loss.

I agree about SV and defense. That’s what we were saying the entire game. He just works harder than anybody I’ve seen in years.
