The Official #9 Tennessee @ Mississippi State Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN2

I've never seen a player play worse than zakai did in the first half, and have rarely seen a player play better than he did in the second half. Really nice bounce back from him and he was the difference. Phillips was fantastic as well. We made plays when we needed to and that's what matters.

18 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 5 TOs for Phillips
24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 5 TOs for ZZ
13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal for JJJ

ON is such a mixed bag, he did rebound this game and snagged 9 but only offered 7 points on just 3 FGAs. It's like he only puts in effort in one area in a game.

Uros had a big fall to earth from his Kentucky performance and had the lowest production night of the bigs with just 2 points and 2 rebounds, Awaka had 4 points, 2 blocks and 1 rebound in his minutes and Aidoo offered 4 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 points in his minutes.

Real disappointed in Mashack, still inexperienced though so can't hold it against him too much, but if he wants to play significant minutes next year he's gotta find a way to offer more than 0-4 with 1 TO.

What's crazy though we missed Santi the most on defense, ZZ was on Davis most the game and played well against him. But we had no answer for Moore...neither JJJ, Phillips, or Mashack really was effective against him and I feel like Santi would have held him in check more.

Big win, actually HUGE win considering who we had out and how the game started.
Uros had a big fall to earth with a twisted ankle too. Any fall to earth is a big one for the Slav LOL.

Got the win on the road so I am happy. We played this game without two of our guards so take the win and get back home and rest a couple of days before LSU. LSU always gives us fits on the road and Vescovi may be out w hurt shoulder. If so, need to get Phillips more involved from opening tip off.

UP did a pretty good job defending Smith who’s State’s best player. Set some good picks also. He just missed on a couple shots but overall he did average for him. JMO
Not his best game, not his worst. He does clog up the lane on D. Hope his ankle sprain or whatever it was, ain’t serious, we need a healthy Uros.

Watching GA & KY and the announcers spend more time talking about the win over TN…then the actual game! Damn, these guys are “homers”

I think LSU has lost 3 or 4 in a row and will lose again tomorrow night against Auburn. We are catching them at a good time

This win was the nicest thing that happened to me today on my 68th birthday. Kinda takes the edge off that letter from Homeland Security fining me $5000 because my import broker was late with some paperwork. I mean, what is THAT?

YEAH, that "HOMELAND" security thing has become as big a Joke as the weaponized IRS against American Citizens. We are living in the worst of times. BOL.

Well we've certainly never heard that one before. @lsu....been a rough venue for our guys. We'll be very fortunate to get a win.

This is exactly why I think Barnes has screwed up by not letting bj edwards get more playing time in blowouts. We only got 1 true pg and he has looked like garbage the past 2 games.
This is why I rarely venture here during games. That garbage turned into gold.

His 2nd half performance doesn’t cancel out the first half. If he does that against a team that’s good enough to take advantage of it we’re in trouble. Absolutely horrific first half play from him. Credit to him though, he didn’t let it get in his head and had a fantastic 2nd half.

I think that the plan for the first half was to play excellent defense, burn clock, and get to halftime within a couple of possessions and with no players in foul trouble. The lineup wasn’t one that they’d been running in practice at all and since Key was ruled out during the pre-game meal there was practically no time to prepare a plan minus the starting backcourt. I don’t think that the staff was expecting scoring to come easily. Especially with 2 of TN’s most productive 3-point shooters sitting out.

The staff should get high marks for adapting without being able to implement the original game plan and having come up with a winning scheme at the 11th hour. But CRB and his assistants are never prepared based on most posters comments.

It's almost as if Barnes sees Edwards every day in practice and has a good idea of what he can / can't do.

If Barnes is smart, he'll set up a phone in his office so you can call him directly with your gems.

We responded well in second half. Every team has off nights and bad games. But this team always plays D and battles even when things aren’t going right on offense. Good win, keep it up Big Orange!!!! GBO!

Uros influences the game even when he’s not putting up stats. He’s a force out there.
Very true, and his defense against the opposing teams most physical big is really under appreciated. There's been a considerable difference when guys like Tolu Smith, Oscar T, and Liam Robbins were being defended by Uros and when they were defended by anyone else. People are simply not able to man handle him, and he has enough quickness to stay in front of big guys at this level.

As great as Aidoo has been for most of the season, he gets absolutely pushed around by the more physical bigs in the SEC. He did get 4 blocks tonight, so he's still making an impact by all means, but having Uros is a great combo with Aidoo.
