You didn't interpret my point. Foster will NEVER be an All American. Never. He's going to be very good the rest of his UT career, but he will never be the best back in America at any point in the season.
Stay in Arizona Mr.Negative

There's not a lot I can say to add to this thread as anything said will have a biased tint to it.
I do try really hard to be as objective as I possibly can where Arian is concerned and I also
try to have the thickest skin possible when it comes to all my kids. In other words, please
don't temper your comments just because I'm in on this.

I will just say this. What you saw of Arian last season will dramatically improve, barring any
unforseen health issues. He was hurt but he powered through it. That's nothing new or even
exceptional. All athletes do that.

What his injury did was limit the amount of swivel he was able to have in his hips. When a
runner is running open and relaxed with as much speed as possible, the hips have a certain
swivel. This swivel enables a runner to cut, to open the hips up and really flat out run. He
was not able to open his hips up when he ran and it effected how he ran. While he's not
going to look as fast as a Reggie Bush, you'll see if you watch him on film that he's eating
up a lot of yardage with every stride. I figured his stride was eating about 3 yards per stroke.
If he is able to open his hips up when healthy, he'll be able to open up that stride and eat up
more ground. He's doing that.

His injuries are healed. He's working out, lifting and running every day. He's pushing himself
really hard as he usually does in the summer. He's doing Johnny Long's workout and then he
does a workout that his dad gives him. Johny Long's workout focuses on strength and conditioning.
His dad's workout focuses on the speed, the angles, the ability to change direction, foot speed, etc.
So this is why I think you'll be pleased by what you see come fall. I spoke with Troop this morning
and he said Arian looks really solid and very healthy. That's alot coming from Coach Troop as he
is not generally free with compliments, especially in the off season.

Great News and I wish him the best! I just think these issues or arguments good and bad will have to be wait and see. Give the (your)kid a break!

I see him exceeding. Anyone who, while injured, that still wants to play gets a check here. Then to actually perform as well as he did while injured? Another check. Even if he did nothing, the kid still showed heart and determination...something a lot of the team failed to show. Ms. Foster, your son is truly a good kid and obviously raised by a great mom. If last year was a hint of things to come, we'll be proud along side of you.

Arian obviously has the biggest heart on this football team. He could have laid down last year with the rest of the offense. Instead he carried them as far as he personally could. He is going to do great things if Cut can keep backers out of the box.

One thing that foser gave us last year was the ability to shed some tackles and get extra yards. We have missed this for a few years.

Nice post Fostermom. It sounds as though Arian will be even stronger this year, as long as everyone else is doing their job and not allowing teams to key in on the strength of our offense which very well could be Arian.I expect him to excel as long as the offensive line is blocking hard and making holes and as long as we are making pass receptions instead of drops.Everyone on here knows he has great potential I just think some fans try to put too much of the responsibility in his hands, which really isn't fair. Thanks for the info!

I guess his dad was a college football player too?

I agree, fostermom, great post and insight.

For the record, I have predicted AF will be an All-SEC back, which is absolutely amazing, and I think he might do it 2 times. He could very well be a first round pick, and I fully expect AF to have a great career here. I never mentioned otherwise.

I just think it's silly to compare him to RB, which isn't a knock on AF, but NOBODY compares to RB.

I understand my comment that he will NEVER be an All-American sounds like negativity, but understand that as of right now, I don't see it in him. I'm also not an expert. I'd love to be wrong.

To those who would like to think I'm anti-Vol and group me somewhere with hatvol, you shouldn't judge either of us like that. We approach communication a tad differently and have different outlooks. The most important thing is that we all love Tennessee football and want the best for the program.

I will reiterate my thoughts on AF. He already is a good back, and should mature into a great one, and the sky is the limit. I cannot wait to see him grow into our featured back and take a step towards the NFL. I think 1400 yards is very realistic, but depends heavily on that OL.

Bottom line: Go Vols (and it can't start soon enough!)

I personally think that AF could be an All-American by his senior year. I've not seen a UT running back with that kind of ability in a long time. He has a way of making people miss that is spectacular. He had some very big runs against Notre Dame, Vandy, KY, and S. Carolina last year. A couple of them he absolutely made the defenses look like they were playing high school ball. Arian is a tramendous talent. He reads the holes and his blocks very well and he makes the first guy miss the majority of the time. I believe he will be a great back that we can depend on to keep the chains moving consistently and break a big one from time to time. I honestly don't see how someone can say that a player with his talent and ability won't or can't ever be an All-American. If what he did as a freshman last year while injured is any indication I think he will absolutely be a stud by the time he's finished here at UT.

So the sky is the limit, but he can't ever be an All-American?

No, not really.

I said I could *see* him getting to 1400 this season, but really, not sure he'll ever break 1600 (which won't be All American).

Regardless, its just conversation.

Yeah yeah yeah.

The sky is the limit, but All American might be above his sky. We'll see. I'd love to see it happen for him.

Darby every year racks up the yards and he hardly gets ALL-SEC, it'll take 1600 or more to get ALL american, 1400 is amazing but it wont get him all-american

Bottom line....... UT as a team is going to have to prove itself as a team and win back some national respect before any individual will get any honors. JMO
