The Official Bob Stoops thread

Stoops is realistic, he supposedly has been ready to get out of Norman and back into the SEC. He's been there 14 yrs, guarantee things are getting stale. This is much more realistic than Gruden, and Gruden was possible.

Okay keep telling yourself that.

What is your Gundy rumor based on? If you follow things much it was brought up a few weeks ago Stoops contacted UT and expressed interest through back channels. Hows that?

LWS said Hart was meeting with Gundy.

Didn't Stoops come out and deny it? It's just another pipe dream.

Guys,

I have lived in 37919 for the past 2.5 years, but I grew up in and around Norman/Tulsa/Okla City, and have attended over 100 Sooners games. Lived there as recently as 2010, and our family still has season tickets and donates.

I have come to enjoy the Vols as my "second" favorite team. We like attending the games at Neyland, and look very much forward to a day when the Vols are competitive with the best teams in the nation.

That all said, unless there is something very, very unexpected boiling under the surface of the water in Norman, and doing so very quietly - Bob Stoops is simply not coming here. He has a daughter in early high school, twin sons in middle school, just completed a 5 million dollar house (in Oklahoma dollars, equivalent to about 7 million here), has won 10 or more games virtually every season, and gets to do whatever he wants because he has a Saban-like deal at OU.

The sports media in OKC/Norman is all-OU, all-the-time, and if something was going to go down, our relatives would already be quite up in arms about it. News is much leakier there, it's a small community, and we always knew what was going on inside the AD. One of our friends is a high ranking administrator at OU, and as of this morning, he knows nothing at all about this.

Is there some tiny chance that Bob has decided that he will fly the coop without even telling the OU AD about it beforehand? I suppose that could happen, but it seems very unlikely that no one would know about it in sports-media land.

I'd love to see a Stoops here, but it's not going to be the one that would have to take a step down in both prestige and pay to make the move. Now Mike, the older brother, would be a realistic possibility.

Not a Negavol, nor a SoonerShiner, just being realistic.

PDV

Oh OK. Well that was short-lived. But, you can't deny a guy who used to live in that state and still has family there. If anyone would know, he certainly would. :good!:

Doubt this. Stoops has a pipeline to Texas and just built a castle in Norman. Why would he invest in that but want to go back to the SEC. He doesn't recruit SEC territory.

He has before and was very good at it. He is a Coach and like all Coach's they have ego's and need new challenges. He is in the same position as Fulmer, Spurrier and other coach's that have been at the same place a while. Plus the fans start getting restless as well, which has been mentioned with him as well. Ego's and challenges are what fuel these guys and i would bet he has wondered what he could do as HC in the SEC, especially having coached as an assistant before. Just saying its absolutely possible.

Haha..your cute. Well if a coach has denied something then it has to be true. Guess Stoops denying it puts that to bed. How would he know Hart was meeting with Gundy if the AD has a gagg order on anything involving the AD. Another thing that must be true. Oh well on to the next candidate

So my message board rumors are BS, but your message board rumors about Stoops are true. Have fun dreaming.

Well, we *reportedly* know Hart was in OK last night *supposedly* talking to Gundy, according to LWS. But, as many have said, Gundy seems like a longer shot than Stoops given his personal connections to Okie State. Now *rumors* of Stoops *possibly* stepping down at OU? There's maybe a little bit of smoke here. It just may be a cigarette, but let's hope it's a dang bonfire just getting started...

Just got a tweet from Jim Ross saying "hell no" in response to question about Stoops stepping down at OK.

To quote Jim Ross on the subject of this thread:

"Good God Almighty"

And I believe he would somehow tie in a reference to Stone Cold Steve Austin.

TOS didn't say they heard he would step down today. Just said heard he may step down. He wouldn't step down one day before a championship lol. Stoops is a proven winner though! I'll take it!

BTW Lamonte is full of sht. He knows Gruden and UT were in talks a long time ago. Just doesn't want to spill the beans.

Big 12 doesn't have a championship game this year.

No they don't but each Big 12 school plays their last game this Saturday. If OU wins and Texas beats K-State, OU would win the Big 12 championship. So in a sense, it is sort of a championship game on Saturday.

I need to correct myself. OU won a share of the Big 12 title today, because Baylor beat K-State and OU beat K-State. Sounds like OU will be going to the Sugar Bowl.
