The Official Detroit Lions Den Thread

What team was 5th and 29th, respectively? KC was 7th and 24th, I guess. Not sure what your point is about 2016. I didn't literally go through every year, but a top 5 scoring D who was bottom 5 YPG D seems highly unusual.

My point is that Matt Patricia is not an idiot! Have you even read this thread? Two years in a row, 2 Super Bowl appearances, but the geniuses on VN conclude Patricia is a moron because his defense sucked, which obviously it didn't with a #1 and 5 in Points Against. Sheez.

Sadly, I have read this thread.

Again, in this thread, you may have read where I stated I was not picking a side between the two of you. Patricia did just fine in NE, and I never said he didn't. I just pointed how odd last year's NE D was statistically after looking it up - top 5 scoring, bottom 5 YPG. 2012-2016 was much more consistent for him/them. You just thought I was arguing because you were.

And I pointed out there was nothing odd about those two seasons. Any more questions?

Yes, I do (and now I'm debating the oddness of last year's NE D for the record):

  • What teams have finished top 5 in scoring D and bottom 5 in YPG allowed in the history of the regular season NFL? I quickly went back through all of the seasons to the year 2000, and I found 1 (NE 2017) in 18 years.
  • Just in case it is the issue, how do you define odd? I define it as something that has happened once in 18 years of competition.

LOL I don't know and I don't care. All I know is it isn't an oddity in New England. "How do you define odd?" You're question would be how I'd define that.

Holy **** bailed out after one of the worst offensive calls I’ve seen this football season

That 1/2 of football looked worse than anything I ever saw during the Caldwell era.
All I heard all week was how bad the Jets are.
