The Official Detroit Pistons Thread

Yeah I remember that time Emmit threw that halfback alley oop pass and Bird slammed it home against the white Sox. Everybody was saying "Larry can't dunk. Larry has a 4 inch vert." Larry sure showed them.

Larry didn't need to jump! He could do everything else needed on the court. Emmitt didn't need to throw a halfback alley oop pass. He's the best RB to ever play the game & his stats prove it. :)

Three straight wins. Reggie playing well, KCP back to his pre injury self, and Tobias is just a fun guy to watch and a fun guy to play with. I'm not in yet but this is the biggest stretch of the season. 6 out of 9 on the road and the 9 against some good teams. 1-0 is a nice way to start it.

I would put the Pistons as one of the top four teams in the East right now. Detroit is the only team to have three wins combined over the Cavs(2) and the Warriors(1) the leaders of the Eastern and Western Confernce.

This sounds completely crazy till you realize they are like a game and a half out of the 4th spot.

Really need to go 5-3 in this stretch to keep pace. Chicago and Charlotte have struggled a little bit. Indiana is slogging. Miami might lose Bosh for the season. If this team remains focused, the 5 seed isn't crazy.

They better not pass my Celtics as the 3rd seed right now! :)

My daughter and her boyfriend are going to see OKC vs Boston in the Garden in a couple of weeks. Have you been to a game there, and tips or pointers?

San Antonio is the toughest game out of the 8, they get up for the big games.

Never been to a game in Boston. I did see a pre-season game years ago at Thompson-Boling between the Celtics & Pacers.

I can't remember what year that was though. I was a lot younger than I am now but Bird was still playing. Probably around 1988. I was still in high school.

I said the Celtics are my favorite team. Now, since Harris is in Detroit I make the Pistons my 2nd favorite team. I had the Magic as my 2nd favorite team before he was traded. Yes, all because Tobias was a Vol for a short time. He's still a VFL just like I am.

I like the Cowboys in football but I also pull for the Broncos because of Peyton Manning. I pulled for the Colts when Peyton was in Indy too. What's wrong with that? It's ok to have multiple teams to root for in sports. I don't jump on bandwagons. I just root for my favorite players.

You can root for whoever you want, I just couldn't do it.

Your now 2nd favorite team tried to kill the best player on your original favorite team.

Been watching the Spurs vs Pistons tonight on ESPN. Tobias Harris had a solid first half with 13 points, 4 Rebounds,& 3 Assists. The 2nd half it was like he wasn't even in the game. I know that I'm a bit biased when it comes to Harris because he was a former Vol but they guy is pretty darn good.

They(Pistons) mis-used him tonight. Kind of reminds me how things were going in Orlando for him. He just totally got shut out of the offense the 2nd half. This happened regularly in Orlando. I hope it doesn't start/turn into this for him in Detroit either.

He's too good to not be a part of the offense. Yes, the Pistons have multiple weapons but Harris has to be a big part of the offensive scheme. He stood at the 3pt line most of the 2nd half just like you would see him do in Orlando in many games. Van Gundy has to not let this happen with Harris again. He was done like this in Orlando & he just wasn't as big as a part of the offense there as he should have been either.

Tobias is best when he's moving around & cutting or setting picks(pick & roll) & not standing out at the 3pt line watching the rest of the guys do their work. He was allowed movement & picks the 1st half but it was like a different role for him in the 2nd half. Totally changed what they were doing & Harris was the best player for them the 1st half. Hmm! :ermm:

Or you know the Spurs adjusted because they are the best defense in the association but I've been crazy before.

There's no need to adjust when Tobias just stands at the 3pt line either in the corner or on the wing. That's 95% of what he did the 2nd half & 5% what he did in the 1st half. I don't get it!

If that's what you think then be my guess. I saw a more concerted effort to stop him from getting the ball so SVG went with other options.

That's not what I seen buddy. I seen exactly what Orlando was doing with Tobias before he was traded. Standing around the 3pt line & not moving around much at all. The 2nd half I mean.

He did not do this the 1st half. That had nothing to do with the Spurs concerted effort in stopping him with that changed type of offense. I know what I saw & watched that night!

I guess I'm an idiot then. I guess SVG is just such a dumb coach he decided to stop using Tobias completely even though the Spurs didn't even try to guard him. Wow we should totally fire him.
