Just some Pistons thoughts scattered during the UT-USCe halftime.
1) I really like Jennings and SVG calling out the team. They are young. They don't bring it every night. We need a guy to lead during tough games and we don't have that right now. It needs to be Reggie IMO.
2) KCP is playing the best ball of his career. Since the new year, 17.5/4.3/1.9/1.5 with a really solid shooting line of 49/40.4/84.6. He's not going to be the driver that I thought, but he's really found his stroke and really starting to become Rip Hamilton like with his off ball catch and shoot. I love what he does defensively (should be all defense but won't).
3) Marcus isn't shooting as well as I hoped, but he will get there. Still think he's the future 4 at this team and I like his defense. He's tough as nails too. Great steal by SVG for a second round pick.
4) SVG is a great coach, but man this offense is too stagnant at times. It's like if the Reggie/Dre PNR doesn't work, or KCP can't get open for a shot, it's iso ball. We need better ball movement. When we have good ball movement, Detroit is really hard to beat.
5) He isn't shooting well, but Stanley is doing everything else great. Very good defender. Can get to the lane. Underrated playmaker. Still going to be a stud and can't wait for next year as the starter.
6) I'm not sure where this team is headed honestly. The East is so crowded. They are only a .5 game in front from the 8 seed. But only 2.5 games back of the 3 seed. I would love a trade to get some offense, but that is probably not going to happen unless SVG gives up a first rounder and I'd rather not. I think they can make the playoffs, but Dre needs to step up defensively. He's getting moody and it's affecting him on that end. Do that, have some better outside shooting, and who the hell knows what can happen.
