The Official Duke/UNC 2017/18 Basketball Thread!!!

I’m going to watch this Duke Basketball game on television. Apparently in the pit of misery.

Tonight’s game, so far (still 8 minutes left), makes you wonder what kind of season Grayson Allen would have had if Bagley didn’t play for Duke. Obviously, I love that Bagley plays for Duke, but in the 3 games Bagley didn’t play (I’m including the Mich St game because he left so early) Allen has been incredible - 37, 23, and 25 points and counting so far in those 3 games.

Agreed.

Y’all have probably already talked about it but RJ is a stud. He’s probably the best HS player I’ve seen in person over the last few years.

He’s gonna be a star next year.

Duke still hit a cold spot shooting about 2/3 into the 2nd half, but they held up on defense and ate clock. Best all around game they've played in a long time.

Agreed. And it’s weird because I didn’t look to the eye like they played with a ton of energy. Just very calm throughout.

Poor Grayson having the play with all the top NBA picks throughout the years holding him back. 😂

Good win yesterday, arguably the best defensive effort to date.

Roy says he’s not worried about the fbi probe at all. K says he’s not even followed it enough.

Yahoo claims HoF coaches should be worried. I could see Cal and Boeheim being possible problems, and everything I thought I knew about Izzo is in question. I can’t fathom Roy would’ve been pushing the envelope after the past year at Chapel Hill. If K’s hands are in this, I'll be far more crushed than any fan should be.

If it extends as deeply as it claims to, I’d be shocked if K and Roy weren’t both involved.

I think that the way it was worded, there’s only a few HoF coaches, but I don’t know. This year’s top teams are a weird bunch. And the report states “half” of the 16 in the NCAA Pre-show. Who’s not guilty by your guess?

Probably most of the surprise teams, and among established teams probably Xavier, Virginia, maybe Villanova. I just don't think you're getting most of the top recruits without playing the AAU/shoe company game

You’re saying the teams you mentioned are not guilty? Look at the top 20. Like 14 of them aren’t regulars.

Of the 16, the first ones I'd assume are guilty are Auburn, Arizona, Duke, Kansas, UNC, Michigan State, and a couple teams from the Nova/Oklahoma/OSU group. There's half.

So you’re literally guessing every HoF coach with a top team this year. Interesting. I think you’re wrong, but we’ll see.

The Official Duke vs. UNC 2017/18 Basketball Thread is back for another year!! Duke once again comes in with a stellar recruiting class and currently ranked #1. Freshman Marvin Bagley is averaging nearly 25 points a game through his first 2 games and this seems to be a different style of a Duke squad than recent years. This team is a very big team and very athletic, rotating probably 9 guys. The guys I've talked to on campus say this team is as good or better than the 2015 National title team. That remains to be seen, especially after last years disappointment.

I think UNC will take a step back this season, especially with Joel Berry having a broken wrist early on. I'm not sure where the offense will come from. If Bradley had come back I would've had no problems predicting UNC as a Final Four team, but I just don't see it now. UNC should be different too, being more perimeter oriented, which is not typical of Roy's teams.

I see Duke as a Final Four contender, I think after starting slowly UNC will find their stride like Roy's teams always do and they can make a deep run. Duke should not lose to UNC this season.

So as always....

GO TO HELL CAROLINA, GO TO HELL!!

Didn't know there was another dukkie on this board... :dance2::rock:

1. Vol4Life1991, welcome to the thread, nice to have you on our side!

2. I don't know how many of you are podcast listeners, but one of my favorite CBB podcasts is One Shining Podcast with Tate Frazier (UNC homer and grad) and Mark Titus (played at OSU and author of "Don't Put Me in Coach"). Anyways, they just dropped a short, 20 minute podcast with Harry Giles. Its pretty good and an interesting dynamic between Tate, who's the host, and Harry who obviously played at Duke. Even if you don't like this episode, you UNC fans of the board will love Tate and the constant hate throws at Duke every show.

Carter’s listing is a $100 meal, which isn’t against the rules, so no eligibility issues...yet
