When Gustaf become Gordon's crew chief, I thought it would be exactly what he needed to become a championship contender again. Clearly, it's been a disappointment with Gustafson. Rick Hendrick should throw the bank at Evernham and create a Gordon/Evernham reunion.

God, that would be awesome. I would just love to see him fight it out one more time.

The only tandem that matches Gordon and Evernham in this era is Johnson and Knaus.

I would love to see Gordon and Evernham together again. Not happening but it's a nice pipe dream.

Notes for tonight's race:

Hendrick Motorsports, Steve Letarte, Crew Chief for Dale Earnhardt Jr. Steve said the 88 car is decent. They made some changes in practice to make it better so Dale can race a little better on the bottom. Getting the car to turn has been their biggest challenge. Overall, they have a 5th to 10th place car. Jeff Gordon has the best Hendrick car going into the race. He messed up in qualifying but he has good speed and a solid top 5 car. Jimmie Johnson's car is not bad. Letarte said the 48 is the second best Hendrick car behind Gordon, but Jimmie can run in the top 5 as well. Kasey Kahne and Dale Jr have pretty equal cars as Kahne is 5th to 10th place car going in. Letarte favorites are the 18, 24 and 56.

Now Jeff has to get back to work now. I have been following his twitter account and his temps were an issue all night.

The 24 is super fast. It may be the best car in the race. Just gotta nurse the temps all night. He restarted 20th and has already worked back up to 11th.

It'll be Gordon's luck to have the best car, but water and oil temps keep him from winning.
