We definitely have some tweaking to do as far as the infield goes. Guys hurt with some lingering injuries can play havoc if we don’t get everyone healthy.

Gavin Grahovak, TAMU 3rd baseman, hurt his wrist on a run down play at the plate. Affected his next at bat. May be out a few games.

Oh wow. Those wrist injuries can be unpredictable as far as recovery goes. That can be something that follows him around the whole season.

's Liam Doyle was the story of the day for me. Had a massive start for the #Vols with 11 strikeouts in five shutout innings of work.

Liam Doyle brought it on Opening Day! Mowed down Hofstra batters. Entire team delivered. Really impressed by Will Heflin doing color commentary on the ESPN+ telecast. He's gonna be heard from.

I couldn’t watch live yesterday but thankfully wheels on YT got up the highlights quickly like always. Looks like the guys played well. Not really sure how much there will be to take away from this series but I’ll be excitedly watching today anyway.

Thoughts from opening day:

Really impressive crowd—especially for a cold mid Feb evening.

Student section was loud and packed! The Hornet’s Nest would be a great nickname with how they are perched in a cage overlooking the field.

Doyle looked like he dropped 20 lbs from this Fall. #Q #Beth. He absolutely shoved.

Marin looks like a veteran; he’s going to be very special.

Kilen and Fischer can flat out rake.

Curley looks like a 1st team All-American. He’s chiseled.

Hunter High absolutely crushed the ball in his pinch hit appearance.

Awesome family and glad to see Hunter get a shot. I met his folks last year after the Saturday OM game as we both set in the Buc-ees parking lot in Crossville watching the end of the TN-TX NCAAT game. We proceeded to run into each other every weekend after that at Buc-ees. We joked in Omaha that it was the first time we had ever talked not at the Crossville Buc-ees. Brent found us after one of the games in Omaha and made it a point to introduce Hunter to my 7 yr old and he spent 10-15 min of his free time with him before the bus left for the hotel. Just a class family all around in my interactions with them.
