One thing I do like about Huntsman is he doesn't strike me as a moral authoritarian, which distinguishes him from the other R candidates, except RP and Johnson (maybe Cain, too).
Since we are discussing what in the hell "family values" means, I thought this was appropriate:

I saw Cain as more of a moral authoritarian than Romney. Romney is straight-laced but I don't find that preaching morals/morality is much of his schtick.
Santorum does it enough for everyone and ironically Newt does too.
Leave social issues up to the states - if not further down the line than that. I don't want a President who wants to legislate his social views. All I care about in a President is that he can get the economy rolling.
My worry with Romney is that he will just pander to his constituents, and there is a large group of influential R's who push for legislating morality. I couldn't get a good read on Cain. He'd say abortion is their choice and in the next breath he'd say he's against it. That's very worrisome, but all I was saying is that I didn't really know where he stood on social issues.
Your right that it was on the state level. But, as far as I know - those bills didnt make it through - which, in my opinion, shows that Perry was trying legislate his own views.
And I'm not really willing to give Perry the chance at federal to see what he would do.
First of all I doubt any legislation he pushed was anti-gay, it might have been anti-gay marriage but not anti-gay.
And just to be clear, when RP says he wants a social issue decided on the state level, that's ok but when (if) Perry tries pushing through a social issue at a state level, he is trying to push his beliefs on everyone?
Perry didn't allow the state to decide since he did it himself. Not to mention the little issue with the money from the vaccine's manuf.
There's a difference between allowing the state's people to decide and an executive order
