The Official Kensucky (3-5) vs. #7 TENNESSEE (6-1) Thread - Zone Edition - 11/2 @ 7:45 EST - from Neyland Stadium (Knoxville, TN) - SECN

One for the ages....

One play from Nico Iamaleava against Kentucky tells Tennessee Vols fans all they need to know about the young QB

In the fourth quarter, with the Vols trying to put Kentucky away, Sampson appeared to be stopped just short of the goal line. But multiple Vols, including Iamaleava, joined what can best be described as a rugby scrum to get Sampson into the end zone.

And not only only did Iamaleava join the scrum, he lowered his shoulder and slammed his body into a Kentucky defensive lineman.

I hadn't noticed that but he hit that pile like he was pushing a blocking dummy. He's a dude. Accuracy this off season is going to take off.

That throw he made to between the two defenders to Nimrod was NFL level accuracy.

I think it was to Nimrod anyways. Either way absolute pinpoint throw.

lights were off refs didnt see it - they didnt see Sampsons first TD dance either - guess the lights going on and off is a good thing in some ways

MLB and the NBA have both the highest paid and most stringent review procedures for refs and look at the results.
MLB ups behind the plate almost never miss on calling balls and strikes.

Been trying to find an answer on my own without any luck, so I'll ask it here: Who signs the referee's paycheck? School? Conference? NCAA?

You should see the refs in the Premier League….

I think a lot of it is refs are humans and humans are prone to errors. Put those humans in high stress situations where they probably have some underlying bias towards teams and you get what we have. I’m not sure what the answer is, even review boards don’t always work. They have them in the Premier League and they almost always just back the refs. They even have live reviews from someone watching the games and calls and they still get it wrong and mostly go with the calls on the pitch.

MLB is run by an independent organization that reviews performance with the priorities being the calls correct.
They rarely have issues on balls and strikes and make the right call at a ridiculous rate. If the sport is committed to a fair system then it’s a very easy thing to do.

Who is this Mike Matthews that was supposed to be a great WR ? Does he even play ?

Tennessee Vols true freshman had a Jauan Jennings-like moment in win against the Kentucky Wildcats

Matthews didn't have many chances to impact the game in Tennessee's 28-18 win against the Wildcats, but he made the most of a blocking opportunity in the second quarter.

With the game tied at seven, Matthews made a block on the perimeter on a pass that went to Squirrel White that would make former Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings proud.
