The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

I would be very cautious on those videos. Those are 2300 pound, purpose built dirt late models. The cup cars are going to be much more like street stocks than those. Practice times have gotten down to the 15.2’s for the late models. I suspect they will be able to get to 15.0’s maybe high 14’s when it comes race time.

I want to get some insight on this because I've been in an argument over it with some random twitter person for a little but now. If Nascar permanently moved the numbers back, would it bother you? Like they did with the All-Star race last year.

It would annoy me but I would adjust. If there is a better effort to make it look good than was done at the All Star race, it will be easier to accept it. Also they need to be sure to not shrink the number too much so you can't read it.

Though as Truex's paint scheme has shown, you can give the sponsor a lot of space without moving the number around.

If teams didn't have a different paint scheme seemingly every single week, it wouldn't be as big a deal moving the number a bit.

Super ready for the race this weekend. I had tickets last year and that was the first event that was cancelled due to the world going on lock down. Not too happy that my seats got moved over like 10 sections, but I will take it. Annoyed that it starts so late, going to make for a long night getting home (please don't rain......).

Fair and valid. I just think its a dumb arguement, because if moving the sponsors name to the center of the door generates more revenue why not do it? Its not like it changes the outcome of the race in anyway.

I'm not crazy upset about the idea. It will just be a bit weird. Though I figure after a week or two, I won't really notice that much. Moving the number is such a minor thing compared to al the competition rules, handling packages, points system, etc.

Yeah, thats what I explained to the moron. But he was literally acting like it would kill the sport and every fan would just quit watching if car numbers were moved.

It just kind of hit me, but I think Nascar made a huge mistake butting this new Bristol dirt racing up against the first weekend of March Madness. They're going to lose interest because of that. They should've either swapped weekends or moved this to April after the tourney imo.

This week is the first week of March Madness. You wouldn't know it from the advertising but this weekend is the Atlanta race. The Bristol race would be the day of Elite 8 games I think though the next week would be better since Sunday would be the day between the Final 4 and Championship and not compete like you're saying.

Something even better would be if they're going to do a dirt race to actually do it at a dirt track and not get rid of a short track. Maybe I'm way wrong but I thought people wanted short tracks. Though I guess people wanted road courses and dirt instead.

I'm not excited at all about Bristol Dirt (though I will watch since I watch every race), these cars aren't meant for dirt.

Yeah. They way they have been talking it up it thought it was this weekend. I'm excited about the dirt track but I wish they would've given Bristol a 3rd date vs taking the spring race away. I'm more excited about the dirt tracks the the road courses they added, I hate road courses.
