The Official NBA Forum Vols Football Thread

The PF; the only place here that makes the FF look like a den of intelligence. It's mostly faux conservatives having a circle jerk, with the occasional dipwad left winger coming in to remind me why I hate them too.

There are a few people who I really respect and they frequently convince me to modify my position...even some of them are pricks who make bad arguments sometimes. Literally everybody is a dip**** at times.

To me, the worst thing is when people know they are wrong, but they don't have the maturity to say they are wrong and they just double down on it. That drives me crazy. I don't care if you have a difference of opinion, especially if you can defend it.

It's interesting how our society has created the division to where you're either Type A or B. Even in the school systems and college campuses there is a lot of the "us vs. them" mentality. I was raised very heavily to one side, and it's taken a lot of time and thought to expand my perspective.

Dude the town I grew up in was super conservative and full of racist azz hillbillies. My dad was MIA for a few years, but I give him all the credit in the world for me not falling into that way of thinking, (and I passed it to my sisters) He taught me to be who I am no matter what and to question everything, keep an open mind, and to not fall into a box.

The weird thing is my parents taught me to be a skeptic and to support small government and liberty but they are conservatives and religious....the weirdest thing is my Dad was not religious until a few years ago. I don't know how they have so much skepticism in them but they won't shine it on their sacred cows. They do to some degree. They'll ***** about Rs all day, but they'll still vote for them.

Basically what they taught me led me to leaving all that stuff behind and becoming libertarian and then becoming something that doesn't have a label....I guess a pragmatic anarchist?

FTR, I'm not saying you can't be a skeptic and religious or conservative, I'm just saying I know they personally haven't applied enough skepticism.

Just put on Top 10 playoff performances, and the end of NFL Total Access is on it and Terrell Davis is rocking a UT jersey. Boom its a sign lol

It's funny that some people grow up following what their parents taught them and others "rebel" the opposite direction. How my mind works I'd like to think I would have followed my own path without my dad, but who knows. I knew at a pretty young age i knew the way people in my home town were, was pretty ****ing close minded and ignorant. Super religious and super racist and refused outside views. Not saying religious people are ignorant BTW.

Pragmatic anarchist... Yes I'll join your cult. Lol

I won't say you can't be religious and a skeptic, but I will say almost every religious person I know that claims to be skeptical is not even remotely close to as skeptical as they claim to be. And it because they cleary haven't treated their sacred cows with the same degree of skepticism as other areas (and many cases none at all). I'll also say that type of situation is hardly unique to the "religious" skeptic.

The main thing I hate about it all is how the whole political process now is basically "your guy is worse" with a heaping side of ridiculous hyperbole.

And number 10 on the Top Playoff Performances is Kaep vs Green Bay. Instantly reminding who incredibly right I was about him, then reminding me I was so terribly wrong in the long run lol

Also reminds me how quickly we fell back to being complete **** as a Franchise. Jed York is no Eddie Debartolo that's for damn sure.

I was raised pretty strict in line with a conservative mindset. I still think that way often, and identify more with it, but at the same time I see a lot of good things outside those boundaries. Religion wise, it took some time to realize I need to be looking at the evidence/logic, and not just what I was taught. It's made me a better person.

Not far enough, UK boy.
