All those 13-17 teams were not up to par. I’ve been beating that drum for awhile now.9 was probably what it should have been. But, who really thought Vandy and Bama would crap the bed as bad as they did? I didn’t. Other than that, I believe all the other SEC teams that lost were actually suppose to, if you go by seeding. It’s really not as bad as it seems imo.
I’m not completely disagreeing with you! But they still won games. When you play in the toughest conference in the country (and it’s not even really close), that has to be taken into consideration. However, you also have to earn your way into the tourney, regardless of your conference. I definitely don’t think Florida should have made it, yet they won a game. And you can’t really go by how close the games were either. This is post season ball. Every team is going to give their best shot no matter who they’re playing. All those 13-17 teams were not up to par. I’ve been beating that drum for awhile now.
Whatever you want to believe. 2 of them got double dipped and the others are 1-1 with last second wins. They didn’t deserve to be in.I’m not completely disagreeing with you! But they still won games. I get that! My point is that conference records shouldn’t be the determining factor of whether a team makes the tourney or not, especially since conferences are nowhere close to being equal. I agree that not all of the 13-17 teams should have made it, but there’s a lot more to consider. Winning isn’t easy in post season play. You simply can’t say a team shouldn’t have made the tourney bc they lost a game. And you certainly cannot say that they shouldn’t have made the tournament because they got “lucky“ and won a game. Just my opinion of course!Automatic qualifier won conference Tournament.
Man, there’s a crap ton of teams over the years that are glad you aren’t making the decision! Look, if every conference was equal, I would agree with you. But, that’s not the case. You are simply trying to penalize teams for playing in a tougher conference. And that just can’t be a determining factor, or you’d seriously damage the quality of the tournament. Three of the SEC’s 13-17 teams are 1-1, and still alive in the tourney. And it doesn’t matter if they win close games or not. And who knows… maybe one or more of them actually wins their regional.Personally I wouldn’t have any of the 13-17 teams in. It should be a requirement to finish .500 in your conference.
And what’s going to happen whenever they all get eliminated tomorrow? Everyone is going to claim conference prejudice. Fact is only 6 SEC teams were truly deserving this year.Man, there’s a crap ton of teams over the years that are glad you aren’t making the decision! Well, first of all, we don’t know if they’re all going to be eliminated tomorrow. Second, the whole country already clean SEC “conference prejudice” in just about sport, so nothing new there. Third, three of these teams have ank won games, which means they deserve to be there more than the teams beat apparently. And lastly (again), conferences are nowhere close to being equal. It would be a horrible idea to base qualification to the tourney on conference record when everyone knows the SEC is dominate in baseball. Look, I get what you’re saying. I truly do. But, I’ll just never agree with it.And what’s going to happen whenever they all get eliminated tomorrow? Everyone is going to claim conference prejudice.
