Does this seem to be a big problem to anyone else? There are no publicly known criteria and the NCAA does whatever they want in backroom?

Not really. It would bother me if we were on the cut line between hosting or not. It would bother me if geography played no part. I don’t envy the job.

Miss State should be first team out. Matched up w 16 seed.

It’s done on regions, they don’t look at seeding that much. They try to make it easier on higher seeds but are supposed to make it geographical

2024 NCAA Tournament Host Sites • D1Baseball

The NCAA on Sunday released the 16 host sites from across the country. And as usual, there were at least a couple of surprises.

Regarding the iffy decisions, the committee left out Indiana State, Mississippi State and Duke. The Sycamores hosted and were a national seed last season and were in good shape leading up to the MVC tournament with an RPI of 11. However, the Sycamores are hitting the road, while East Carolina, which has an RPI of 23, is hosting next weekend. Duke and Mississippi State also had strong cases. The Blue Devils won the ACC tournament and finished with 20 ACC wins to go with an RPI of 16, while the Bulldogs finished with 20+ SEC wins and had an RPI of 25. Dallas Baptist, which won the Conference USA tournament title, went 9-2 against Quad 1 teams and had an RPI of 17. It was also in the mix for a host spot.

State ended with 19 SEC wins counting the tournament. Regardless, more deserving than Zona. They’re there cause they “needed” more west coast hosts and they won the PAC-12 regular season and tournament titles. I’m not saying they deserve to host but a P5 2x conference champ deserves it over Indiana State. I don’t get how the RPI is so high despite playing minimal Q1 games and losing 2/3rd of them.

So either way it’s Ecu or Miss st in supers…that’s the only downfall about the 1 seed really..you are guaranteed basically 16 or 17 in supers…no upset…let’s go baby…I’m ready to take them all on!
