The Official New York Yankees Thread

1. Aaron Judge, Yankees (Last poll: 7)
The Dodgers’ hold on the top spot is over, after Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani combined to lead our first four polls of the season. Judge wasn’t in the picture in the first three of those, as he entered play on May 4 batting just .200/.336/.392 with 12 extra-base hits in 34 games. Since then, though? Try .408/.521/1.000 with 23 extra-base hits in 22 games. Judge’s 30 barrels in May smashed the previous record for any single month (24 by Ohtani and Matt Chapman).

No throwing for at least 4-6 weeks. Tbh when I see ElAttrache’s name I fear season-ending, so at least not that

Don Mattingly finished with 222.

He was averaging 32 per year from ‘85-‘87 (age 24-26) before his back injury sapped his power.

He had hit 123 in 4.5 seasons thru age 26.
@YankeeVol

I forgot to include the question that was the entire point of that ^ post…

How many HR does Mattingly finish with if he never wrenches his back?

I think there’s a good chance he finishes >361 and he’s currently #4 on the list.

Jude is enfuego.

His 26 extra-base hits are the most by any Yankees player in a month since Joe DiMaggio had 31 in July 1937, and this is just the eighth time since the end of World War II that any player in the majors had that many extra-base hits in any month.

He is also the first player in MLB history to reach 35 career multi-homer games in fewer than 1,000 career games, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
