The Official Nfl Draft Thread

Tampa Bay selects Chris Colmer

Colmer was a sixth-year senior in 2004 that endured a lot of hardship throughout his college career but finished strong and showed a lot of toughness and character along the way. He took over as a starter in his redshirt freshman season in 2001, but his durability and health caused him major setbacks along the way. He broke his wrist as a senior in high school in 1998, underwent right shoulder surgery during his redshirt season in 1999 and also missed spring drills due to ankle surgery in 2002. Colmer started all 14 games in 2002 but sat out the 2003 season with a rare disease named Parsonage-Turner syndrome, which possibly was brought on by a viral infection, and it caused pain, numbness, tingling and weakness from his left shoulder down to his biceps and into his forearm.

Indy take vincent Burns

Burns began his collegiate career at Northern Arizona and saw time as a true freshman backup in 2000 before transferring to Kentucky and sitting out the 2001 season. Burns became an immediate starter as a sophomore in 2002 and he played in and started all 24 games that he was eligible for at Kentucky from 2002-'03. Burns had his best season as a junior in 2003 with an SEC-leading 18 tackles for loss, but he struggled more as a senior in 2004, when he missed two games and finished with just 4.5 tackles for loss and zero sacks. Burns reminds us a lot of Anthony Adams, a second round pick of the 49ers in 2003. He is a 'tweener DE/DT that may never be more than a "wave" player as a 3-4 DE or 4-3 DT.

WEll i just got back on..and i've missed alot...any chance Titans would draft Adrian McPherison, vols2345???

PIT Selects Trai Essex

Essex began his career as a tight end and caught three passes for 24 yards in 11 games played during his true freshman season in 2001. He moved to offensive tackle in 2002, was slowed by an ankle injury but wound up starting all 12 games anyway. He started all 12 games again in 2003 but sat out the spring of 2003, when he had knee surgery and also needed to improve his academic standing. He started all 12 games again as a senior in 2004 but could not finish his combine workout after tweaking his hamstring. Essex lacks ideal height and has bulked up considerably but in doing so he has lost a lot of speed and agility that he once had. He still does not have great overall strength and his awareness and technique still need improving.

I have been Praying for it.

49ers selects adam snyder

After redshirting in 2000 and contributing as a reserve in 2001, Snyder was a fulltime starter both at guard and tackle for the Ducks from his redshirt sophomore season in 2002 through his senior season in 2004. Snyder started every game at left tackle for the Ducks as a senior in 2004 but his best fit in the NFL will most likely be at guard. Snyder is a versatile prospect with starting potential. He also can play a role as a backup tackle in order to provide more depth and versatility to the team that drafts him. Snyder does not have great speed or mobility as a downfield blocker and he's not the most explosive blocker in this class. He does, however, have terrific size, awareness, technique and feet in the short area.

well there is a chance for anything. I think they might need to. He could be an Mcnair like qb in the nfl with more arm strength and speed.

Arizona selects Darryl Blackstone

Blackstock spent one year at Fork Union Military Academy after high school and before enrolling at UVA in 2002. He immediately became a starter at the OLB position in coach Al Groh's 3-4 scheme and was a fulltime starter throughout his three collegiate seasons. As a junior in 2004, Blackstock 45 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, including 11 sacks. In three seasons at UVA he combined for 44 TFL and 27 sacks. Blackstock has limitations in terms of his experience and fluidity in coverage. He'll need to continue to improve his technique and lower body strength in order to better defend the run, as well. However, Blackstock has a natural ability to rush the passer and he is also a very disruptive run-stopper when allowed to get up the field and pursue.

Tennessee Selects Brandon Jones

Jones appeared in all 12 games during his freshman season in 2001 and he appeared in all 12 games of the 2002 season. He has been a fulltime contributor since his junior season in 2003 and he finished his senior season in 2004 with 27 receptions for 345 yards and three TD's. Jones got off to a fast start as a senior but his production tailed off considerably in the second half of the season. He has adequate size and is a strong and physical receiver that isn't afraid to go over the middle and will give a great effort as a blocker. However, even though he ran well at the combine, he does not translate that speed to the field. He does not have explosive burst as a route runner or after the catch, and he also is too inconsistent to rely on as a possession-type starter.

denver selects Domonique Foxworth

Foxworth took over as a starter for the final two games of his true freshman season in 2001 and has been a fulltime starter since. He started all 13 games as a junior in 2003, finishing with 45 tackles, three interceptions and six passes broken up. As a senior in 2004, he started all 11 games and finished with 36 tackles, zero INT's and eight PBU. Foxworth lacks ideal bulk and strength but has some intriguing upside due to his outstanding experience, speed and athleticism. He is at his best in man-coverage and shows the athletic ability to shadow most receivers alone on an island. Foxworth doesn't make enough plays when the ball is in the air and he may never going to be more than a sub-package contributor in the NFL.

what was up with the second round pick for the titans?? I dont understand.

Roos is a small-school, late-bloomer that was born in Estonia and moved to the USA in 1992. Roos only played one year of high school football and he played TE and DE during that season. He redshirted as a TE in 2000 and split time between offense and defense in 2001. He switched to left tackle fulltime in 2002, started all 11 games the next two seasons (2002-'03) and was named All-Big Sky honorable mention both years. Roos once again was a fulltime starter at LOT as a senior in 2004, when he garnered first-team All-Big Sky honors. Roos has developmental upside with very good athleticism for his size. The former tight end continues to get bigger and stronger. He also continues to improve his technique and efficiency as a blocker.

Seattle selects LeRoy Hill

Hill played mostly on special teams and as a reserve from 2001-'02 before moving inside as a junior and taking over as a fulltime 13-game starter at MLB. As a junior in 2003, Hill led the Tigers with 145 total tackles and also had an astounding 27 TFL and eight sacks on the season. He led the Tigers in tackles again as a senior in 2004 and also added another 17.5 TFL and 8.5 sacks, despite getting much less protection from his defensive line. Hill does not have good size or ideal strength, and he likely will need to make a position change from MLB to WLB in the NFL.

Kansas City selects Dustin Colquitt

Colquitt redshirted in 2000 and has been the Vols fulltime starting punter since 2001. He was a Ray Guy Award finalist in 2002 and 2003 and he finished sixth in the nation with a 45.3 yard per punt average in 2003. Colquitt averaged 40.8 yards per punt and he placed 17 of his 26 punts inside the opponent's 20-yardline in 2004. He was also a semi-finalist for the Ray Guy Award.

Colquitt is hands down the best all-around punter in this class. He has good size, excellent leg strength, an impressive understanding of angles and placement, and he has very good control of his punts. He gets great hang-time and he's as good as we've seen at the college level when it comes to placing punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line.

New England selects Nick Kaczur

Kaczur was a fulltime starter at Toledo from his true freshman season in 2001 through his senior season in 2004. He also was an all-conference performer in the MAC in each of those seasons. Kaczur took off approximately 20 pounds between his junior and senior seasons. He is a versatile prospect with the potential to possibly play ROT or OG in the NFL. Kaczur is an older prospect that lacks ideal athletic ability. He also needs to continue to improve his upper body power in order to be more explosive with his initial punch. However, Kaczur has great size, good overall strength and great experience in a zone-blocking scheme. He also is one of the hardest working linemen in this year's draft and is an extremely "coachable" player. Kaczur could slip to the second day but we think he will be a solid starter at OG in the NFL
