The Official Nfl Draft Thread

I just noticed that my favorite College football player is still undrafted. Man whoever gets derron sprolles is going to be very luckly.

Houston takes Vernand Morency

Morency was signed by the Colorado Rockies out of high school and played minor league baseball for three years before enrolling at Oklahoma State in 2002. An ankle injury sidelined him most of his freshman season. Morency saw some action as Tatum Bell's (Broncos) backup in 2003, finishing with 918 yards and eight touchdowns 135 carries. Morency took over as a fulltime starter in 2004 and had a breakout season with 1,474 yards and 12 touchdowns on 278 carries. Morency is a 24-year old prospect with somewhat limited experience. He needs to improve his strength and become a more aggressive and powerful interior runner. However, Morency has the bulk, quickness, explosiveness and hands to emerge as a fulltime starter in the NFL. The team that drafts him will have to be patient in developing him and will assume a risk with an older prospect.

Arizona takes Eric Green

Very good player. very very very good player. Green played in all 12 games of his freshman season in 2000 and he played in 10 games in 2001. He injured his knee during a summer workout and red-shirted in 2002. Green played in 13 games in 2003, starting five of them. As a senior in 2004, Green finished with 36 tackles, one interception and five passes broken up while making significant strides in terms of his overall consistency in coverage. Green has the quickness, COD skills and agility to blanket receivers underneath and, while he lacks elite speed, he is fast enough to hold up on the perimeter in the NFL. He also has above average ball skills in coverage. However, Green doesn't provide much run support, he's not as physical as he needs to be in coverage, and he lacks explosive catch-up speed to recover from a mistake.

Denver takes Karl Paymah

Paymah redshirted in 2000 and saw time as a nickel cornerback mostly as a redshirt freshman in 2001 and redshirt sophomore in 2002. He missed one game because of an ankle sprain in 2002 but also earned a starting job for three games. He started all 13 games as a junior in 2003 (55 total tackles, one INT and 10 PBU) and all 11 games as a senior in 2004 (35 tackles, two INT's and eight PBU). Paymah has very good size and speed. He is a physical cornerback that isn't afraid to mix it up in the running game he was extremely productive on special teams at the collegiate level. Paymah had an outstanding showing at the combine and has more upside than we originally thought.

Philly selects Ryan Moats

Moats played in twelve games as a true freshman in 2002 providing depth and contributing on special teams. He started ten of the twelve games he played in during the 2003 season rushing 199 times for 1,300 yards and ten touchdowns. Moats caught 27 passes for 251 yards and a touchdown that year. He started twelve games in 2004 rushing 288 times for 1,864 yards and eighteen touchdowns. Moats also caught 15 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown last year. Moats he is a quicker and fast back that needs to improve as a receiver out of the backfield but he has the potential to develop into a quality change-of-pace back in the NFL. Moats is instinctive, he shows good burst through the hole and he is a willing blocker in pass protection.

:good: Good player Notre Dame all time sack leader!! Also a fellow Alabamian

Okland selects Kirk Morrison

Morrison is a four-year starter at the middle linebacker position. He was one of the most productive linebackers in the nation his final two seasons at SDSU, as he finished 2003 with 115 total tackles, 17 TFL, 3.5 sacks and one interception, and finished 2004 with 115 tackles, nine TFL and one interception. Morrison battled through some nagging injuries as a senior in 2004 but he didn't miss a start and he showed tremendous toughness throughout the season. He has adequate size, good strength, decent quickness, excellent instincts and adequate range. However, his lack of top-end speed and stiffness in coverage hurts him as an NFL prospect. He might be able to overcome those physical limitations with instincts, angles and toughness but NFL teams shouldn't take a chance on that with a Day 1 selection.

Center gets the ball to Ainge's hands and not his ankles it never happens :shakehead:

Carolina selects Evan Mathis

Mathis redshirted in 2000, became a starter for the Crimson Tide as a redshirt freshman in 2001, and was a fulltime starter from that point on. Mathis made the move from right tackle in 2003 to left guard in 2004. Mathis is versatile, durable and intelligent. He is a tall, athletic, consistent, tough and aggressive offensive guard prospect with some decent upside. He lacks great bulk and lower body strength, but he continues to get stronger and he has become extremely sound from a technique standpoint, which helps him to mask his lack of an ideal base. Mathis had one of the best individual workouts of any offensive lineman at the scouting combine and, as a result, his draft stock is at an all-time high. In our opinion, Mathis has the potential to develop into a starting OG in an athletic blocking scheme in the NFL.

Yeah I know. Just was teasing man. Back on topic.

Minn selects Dustin Fox

Fox started two of the 12 games he played in as a true freshman in 2001 and saw action both at safety and cornerback. Fox has been a fulltime starting cornerback since his sophomore season in 2002. He started all 13 games as a junior in 2003 and finished with 77 total tackles, three TFL, three INT's and nine PBU. Fox suffered a broken arm in the first quarter of his season-opener (Marshall) and wound up missing nearly four full games as a result of the injury. He returned for the final eight games of the season and finished with 28 total tackles and three passes broken up. Fox has a chance to make it in the NFL as a cornerback but it likely would have to be in a zone-coverage scheme, where he would be protected deep.

St. Louis selects Richie Incognito

Incognito redshirted in 2001 and he started 13 games at left tackle in 2002. He started all 13 games at tackle in 2003. Incognito was supposed to be moved to OC in 2004 before Nebraska suspended him. He left school before enrolling at Oregon in September of last year. However, he was ineligible to play under NCAA rules and he didn't attend a practice before the Oregon's football program gave him an unconditional release for not meeting unspecified conditions. Incognito attended the combine and was one of the most impressive offensive linemen throughout his workouts but wound up suffering a minor sprain to his right knee during pass-protection drills. The injury reportedly will have no long-term affect. Incognito was putting on a show prior to his injury during his workout at the combine. He showed up in good shape, impressed with 29 reps on the bench press.

New Orleans select Alfred fincher

Fincher played in 11 games as a reserve linebacker during his true freshman season in 2001. He took over as a fulltime starter at MLB as a sophomore in 2002 and finished third on the team with 92 total tackles. He was a fulltime starter from 2002-'04. As a junior in 2003, Fincher finished second in tackles with 115. As a senior in 2004, he led his team with 140 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, two sacks and two INT's. Fincher is an experienced ILB prospect with good size, toughness and strength. He gets the most out of his physical tools but clearly is an overachiever with marginal athleticism.

Cinny selects Chris Henry

Henry missed his entire freshman season so he could concentrate on academics. He was named Big East Rookie of the Year and second-team all-conference in 2003, recording 1,006 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns that year. Henry's junior season in 2004 was much more of an adventure. He was suspended twice once for unspecified team rules violations and another time following an incident in which he was penalized for two unsportsmanlike penalties in a previous game. Despite missing two full games because of suspensions, Henry still finished the 2004 season with 52 receptions for 872 yards and 12 touchdowns. Henry is one of the most physically gifted receivers in the nation and he has the physical tools of a first round draft pick. In a lot of ways, he reminds us of Randy Moss (Vikings).

hey I'm getting excited, Been hearing alot of rumors about adrian Mcpherson about to get drafted. He is a very good payer and WILL be a star in the nfl.

New England Selects Ellis hobbs

Hobbs played in all 11 games as a true freshman in 2001, which was his first season of playing DB after starring as a running back in high school. Hobbs became a fulltime starter in 2002 and went on to start in each of his final two seasons (2003-'04) at Iowa State. As a senior in 2004, Hobbs finished third on his team with 71 tackles. He also had five INT's and eight PBU. Hobbs was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 and also was a captain in 2004. He finished his career with 10 interceptions and 30 PBU. Hobbs is an undersized cornerback prospect that has continued to make significant strides in each of his first four seasons at the position. His marginal height, bulk and strength will always limit him in the NFL

Seattle Selects David Greene

Greene has been a very solid starter since his redshirt freshman season when he was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2001. He started 52 consecutive games over four seasons (an NCAA record), led the Bulldogs to a 42-10 record during that time, four straight bowl games, three straight national top six finishes, two SEC Eastern Division titles (2002 and 2003) and the 2002 SEC championship. Greene became the "winningest" Division 1-A quarterback in NCAA history with 42 career victories breaking the old mark of 39 by Tennessee's Peyton Manning. During that time he also led the Bulldogs to a 15-2 record when playing on the opponents' home field. Most impressive about Greene are his leadership and proven ability to manage a game.

Buffalo Selects Kevin Everett

Everett transferred to Miami from Kilgore Junior College prior to the 2003 season. He played in all 13 games and finished with nine receptions in 2003. He played in 11-of-12 games as a senior in 2004 and finished with 23 receptions for 310 yards with zero TD's. Everett missed the Peach Bowl (vs. Florida) because of a shoulder injury that required surgery on Jan. 5th. As of when this report was written (March 11, 2005), Everett still had yet to workout because of the injury. Everett has good speed and athletic ability. He also has the frame and tenacity to develop into an adequate blocker in the NFL. However, Everett's senior season was his first as a fulltime starter and, while he has made strides, he still is an unpolished and somewhat unproven prospect.

Jax selects Scott Starks

Starks played in all 12 games of his freshman season in 2001, starting 10 of them, and he started all 14 games of the 2002 season. He started 12-of-13 games he played in during the 2003 season. As a senior in 2004, Starks finished with 45 tackles, one interception and nine passes broken up. Starks had his most complete season as a senior and we think he has the cover skills and toughness to develop into a contributor in the NFL as a sub-package inside cornerback and possibly even a "gunner" on special teams. Starks' upside is clearly limited by his lack of height and bulk but his speed, athletic ability and tenacity are attractive qualities as a late-Day 1 or early-Day 2 prospect.

NY Jets select sione pouha

Pouha signed with Utah in 1997 but went on a church mission to Pittsburgh for three years and did not return to Utah until 2001. He saw limited playing time at DE in 2001. He played in 11 games in 2002. Moved to DT in 2003 and started nine games, finishing with 29 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. As a senior in 2004, Pouha finished with 35 total tackles, three TFL and two sacks in 9-of-11 games played. Pouha was honored for rescuing a woman from an apartment fire in 2002. He also is married with one child and was a team captain as a senior in 2004. Pouha has excellent size and strength. He has very good overall physical tools and also can be flat-out dominating at the point of attack as a two-gap run plugger.

Carolina selects Atiyyah Ellison

Ellison is a little bit of a late-bloomer that started out at Coffeyfield Community College before transferring to Missouri prior to the 2002 season. He played in all 12 games that year and started nine at defensive end. He moved inside to tackle as a fulltime starter in his 2003 junior season, when he finished with 70 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss and four sacks. Ellison continued to improve as a senior in 2004, finishing with 60 tackles, 12.5 TFL and 2.5 sacks while helping to anchor a unit that led the Big 12 in total defense during the regular season. Ellison has a very good frame, solid all-around size and above average quickness and athleticism for his size. He has some versatility due to his experience at NT, DT and DE, and he clearly is at his best as a one-gap type of penetrating interior player.

Atl selects Jordan Beck

Beck played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2001, when he led the team with 73 tackles. He led the team in tackles in each of his four years as a fulltime starter. He broke the school single-season record for tackles as a junior in 2003 with 128 and then broke his own record as a senior in 2004 with 138. Beck also had 18.5 TFL and four INT's, two of which he returned for touchdowns. He was Cal Poly's first Buck Buchanan Award winner as best defensive player in Division I-AA. Beck played in the East-West Shrine game and also attended the combine, where he had a solid all-around workout. Beck played inside at Cal-Poly State but his best fit in the NFL will be at WLB.
