The Official PlayStation 5 Thread

I decided to go ahead and fire up Cyberpunk earlier this week since there is a drought. I bought it not long after its release.

I think I made it about 5 hours before I finally accepted that I hate it. Awful game.

The pushback over a lack of a sequel is what intrigued me. I had always chalked it up as a game that isn’t worth playing until the uproar over the recent announcement that there won’t be a Days Gone 2.
They didn't totally rule it out and the petition is up over 100,000 signatures now I think. The lead designer at Bend for Days Gone basically quit and Bend has to fulfill some other obligations for Sony currently. There is still hope though. I mean, it took 10 years for a sequel to Stalker...

Anybody order theirs from Walmart? If so, how long did it take you to get it?

Congrats! Got mine from Walmart, but it was at launch and came first day, as promised (I didn’t really believe that it would arrive at the time). I’d imagine it will come fast, within a few days.

Nope, waiting until it's a free PS Plus game. Sounds too unforgiving to gamble $60 on, to me anyway.

Yeah, it was definitely fun, but quite hard and sometimes frustrating. But, finished it before not too long. I was thinking the same thing, but it dropped to $50 and I happened to have a $50 gift card, so went for it.

I was in a similar situation (had a gift card) and chose Resident Evil 8 instead. How long did it take you to get through your first playthrough? And is there any replayability?

Think it took me ~3 weeks to finish (I only play at night after kids go to bed). You can play through again and collect some different stuff, but I’m not sure how many people would put up with the punishment again (it involves long runs through the same levels quite a bit). I don’t replay a lot of games though. I also played RE village and enjoyed it.

Confirms what I've read. I guess I'll wait until it's free or deeply discounted. Thanks for your thoughts, my friend.

I’m confused. You know RE 8 and RE Village are the same game right?

Ordered my PS5 from Walmart on Aug 12th. Just shipped today. Should get by next Wednesday. Excited and ready to try that bad boy out. (9/4 EDIT: I got the notification it shipped last night and it arrived today. Very happy about that!)

Also, apparently it's fairly common at this time to have to wait several weeks on Walmart to ship after you order. I guess you are basically pre-ordering them at this point. So just a heads up if someone is looking to order one from Walmart you're gonna have to wait. But it's still better than paying $900+ on eBay, FB Marketplace, etc.

UPDATE: Pre-order Horizon Forbidden West now: Collector’s and Digital Deluxe Editions detailed employee time tracking

FYI, Sony is doing a PlayStation showcase tomorrow at 4:00pm EST. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to show!

You’ve been awfully patient, and we thank you for that. And now we’re looking forward to showing you what we’ve been working on.
Tune in next Thursday, September 9 at 1:00pm Pacific Time / 9:00pm BST / 10:00pm CEST for a look into the future of PS5. The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond. And stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase.
One thing to note: PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time. But there will still be plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small. We hope you can join us!

Any tips on getting a PS5? Anyone selling one?
I have the Walmart app on my phone and had looked at the ps5 tons of times on it, but it was over $900 and only available through some secondary seller every time I checked. One night, I get a notification on my phone that said "an item you're interested in will be in stock at 9pm." I thought that was weird so I clicked it, and it was the ps5 and it was going to be $499. So got in app before 9 and when 9 got here it was madness. Took 20 mins but I got one. So you can try that.

A lot of other people follow accounts on Twitter where they update restocks. You can also Google ps5 restock and there are some pages that will put out info, you just have to check those pages multiple times a day. It's a bit of work.

If you don't mind paying extra, you can buy one on eBay or FB marketplace, but it will cost $300-400 above retail most likely.
