Barnes has brought in some great players. His handful of 5 stars have mostly come here because their high level athletic parents have steered them here solely because of Barnes.

Do you really consider getting a small handful of 5* makes you a great recruiter? I think he does really good in the portal. But his HS recruiting isn’t very good. Look at the ranking of the 2025 class.

I don't think you can say it's not working. It's effective, but it's also limited and matchup sensitive, but can't almost every team say that to one degree or another? I'm content to let the season play out before judging. Regardless, I've seen a heckuva lot worse in Knoxville since Mears roamed the sidelines. No guarantees that Barnes successor will equal his success. I'm gonna enjoy who and what we are right now.

I love Barnes. I enjoy him but his teams are very frustrating. I hate seeing Bama scoring 90+ on almost everybody and winning like crazy. Meanwhile we struggle to score 75. While there is no guarantee that a successor would match his success, with Danny White, the confidence and likelihood of that happening are high.

Offense wins championships. And having the 185th scoring team in the nation is not good.

“Offense wins championships” is not accurate.

Every champion since 2002 has been a combination of these attributes. Last year, entering the tournament, we were one of only ten teams to meet this criteria:
  • Top 25 in adj. efficiency margin (AKA KenPom ranking)
  • Top 57 in adj. offensive efficiency
  • Top 44 in adj. defensive efficiency
  • Top 54 in Strength of Schedule Adj. Efficiency Margin

Chances are a team with this profile will win again.

Alabama making the FF did so with one of the worst defensive teams, but an excellent offense. They are the exception, not the rule. They also didn’t win the championship.

He will retire at some point. He is 70 years old.

Some people think we will never get as good a coach after him so they cannot bear to have him defamed even though he will not coach forever. The evil non christians, who do not want simply to have nice tourney appearances with very little shot at being national champs, are evil and losses to fla by 30 when we can easily do better (with even fewer players), the commode doors by anything, and the ky jellies twice is ok (I mean, bad games happen, right? How many?), cuz our ranking is still high and the coach is their father figure. Besides we have been abused by refs and players have to make shots because the coach does not shoot.

Also, he is going for another 80%+ season and hey, christians only like to follow 90% of the 10 commandments anyway, so what's the big deal?

Now in the real world, we still could actually win a national championship. However, he needs to learn to teach O like he teaches D and he is surely smart enough to do that as well as being able to recruit the players (out of hs or portal) to do that. He could still win it all this year and it would be great to hear from all the rb lovefest guys about how it was gonna happen so ha ha losers who hate rb (even though many just want him, yes him to win). Again, he is going to retire sooner rather than later so he should try to win it all and not just want to be accepted and loved, that being what the love fest christians demand according to their dictates that others must do).

A great recruiter can find 4 and even a few 3 stars that are able to be developed to compete at the highest level. That's a textbook definition of a great recruiter. We've been nationally relevant for most of the time he has been here. Why? He gets good players, some great and develops them

🤭 Barnes is as real world as it gets. Can we get someone who can do as well? Sure, but pal, that isn't real world, that's speculative hope. Much more than likely, it won't happen immediately. It will at some point, but you and I might not be here for it

That settles it then. we will most likely never have such a great coach that we can win it all in the very lengthy future.

Thus, all are commanded to love rb above winning it all because he is the best we can ever hope for because we just don't have the power to win as well after he retires unless we somehow get lucky in the next 50 or so years.

Fall in line and follow the 9 of 10 and their dictates. Let them be happy in their love of something above UT winning it all and their confidence that they will be more likely correct given their standards are not so high.

Or, let the losers be losers and let's go for it all now, next year, the year after, and so on. In all UT sports.

He doesn’t understand KenPom. Only uses volume stats. Not worth it.
