The Official Shriners Children's Classic Weekend Game Thread (vs Texas Friday 8PM EST) (vs Baylor Saturday 4PM EST) (vs Oklahoma Sunday Noon EST)

Camden's having a rough outing, but I'm not upset. He'll bounce back. Coach V wanted to see where we stood when pushed, and this is certainly that. The team will learn and get better in the long run.

2 hits through 5 and minimal contact even says they’re not getting to him. I’m not a D-1 coach but I don’t think it was the right move even before the hindsight we’re seeing now.

Well, I’m sure he’s on a pitch count and with 10ks I’d say he was at it or over. Vitello isn’t going to get this kid arm hurt going 100+ pitches in this game tonight.

It’s easy to second guess, but CTV screwed this one up.

Right time to get Sewell too. Should’ve been out of it, but no need to waste him now.
It’s not easy to 2nd guess. TX hadn’t proven that they could touch Burns, let alone light him up. He was at 16 pitches/inning which is a reasonable pitch count in college. I was shocked he didn’t start the 6th well before I saw Cam throw a pitch.

It was excellent. Long, but definitely excellent. Should have just watched it again as soon as I left the theater. I’ve cursed the time by watching 😂
Eh we were doomed from the start. Game is in Texas at the Cheater Dome and the umps had it in for us the whole game. If you listen closely, you can hear the trash cans beating whenever our pitchers are about to make a pitch.

Who couldn’t see that Cam didn’t have it after 2 batters…besides our staff. Questionable coaching moves tonight.
They made a decision, the last thing you want is to burn arms the first game of the weekend. Sewell just isn't a guy I would go to first especially after extended innings midweek.

He was at 81. You didn’t have to go 100+. If he continued on the trajectory he was on he wouldn’t have hit 100 until the 7th.

Not burning arms would’ve been to keep Burns in. TX wasn’t even fouling him off.

Lots of new pieces to this squad. Ferguson and Spence turn 2 and get us out of that inning with minimal damage.
It’s early, we’re still trying to figure things out. Our freshman pitcher went toe to toe with Texas. We have a ton of arms in the pen and I’m sure CTV and CFA are still learning who they can trust.
This is a really good Texas team. We’ll be ok.
GBO!!

That's speculation at best. You don't push it this early ever. I would have been just as likely he had a bad inning.
