The Official So Miss @ #1 Tennessee Volunteers Regional Game Thread (Sunday June 2nd 6PM EST) (TV SECN)

They should’ve been sent to Florida st. Florida st spanked them in every midweek. The gators didn’t deserve to make the tournament. So send them to Florida st, make them prove they are a better team now and a supers-worthy team, after they had a terrible season (with easily one of the top 5 most talented rosters). I knew Florida would be in but it’s bs—got in on talent, not results. They even had a chance to slightly rectify their horrible season in Hoover.
I agree.

If you couldn't win quality games in the season, Why should you get a do-over just because you played them already?

I love the SEC, but in no way did we need 11 team in the field.

The tourney is more fun to watch with overperforming mid majors than underperforning Power 5 teams.

If you required tourney teams to be over .500 in their conference this is who would have made the field

Tennessee 22-8
Kentucky 22-8
Arkansas 20-10
Texas A&M 19-11
Georgia 17-13
Mississippi State 17-13

in the ACC:

North Carolina 22-8
Clemson 20-10
NC State 18-11
Virginia 18-12
Florida State 17-12
Louisville 16-14
Duke 16-14
Wake Forest 15-15
Georgia Tech 15-15

Sure that's more ACC teams but the mass of SEC teams at 13-17 were all underperformers. These slackers were why there were four teams with 19 wins or more.- especially Kentucky and then Arkansas who couldn't yet a beach ball.

I could have sworn they voted in 2023 to change the rule so that the winner-take-all game was always where the host was the home team. But I guess I am just imagining things.
The whole thing is crap. If your the hosting team who earned a regional hosting spot, you should be the home team, in every regional game. That and playing at home are your reward.

Man you have to be super excited about Evansville then!

And Dook, also a bell cow for the ACC this year?
Only SEC team who isn’t near the top is Florida.
The ACC teams are all middle of the pack.
5 from each conference in the Supers.
All those middle of the pack ACC teams handled those “great” 13-17 teams that should have never been in the tournament to begin with.

Like…. But 15-15 is not over .500. They’d be out.

I would count the conference tournament games towards their conference record whenever determining NCAAT qualification. If they finish 14-16 or 15-15 and then they go on a run to get over .500 in conference then I think they should get in. Alabama and Florida finished 13-18 in SEC aggregated record. Should have never even been considered. At least the other 13-17 teams went and made the conference semis and one made the championship. Even so, only 4 of the 5 teams advanced, proving they should have given more spots to mid majors this year. It’s ok if the SEC has a down year overall. They don’t have to get 8+ teams in if they don’t deserve it. This was one of those years the committee should have looked over the SEC imo.

Which teams below Tulane would you have put in the tournament, since you keep on about this. And what were their records? Because that is where the teams would have come from.
