The Official So Miss @ #1 Tennessee Volunteers Regional Game Thread (Sunday June 2nd 6PM EST) (TV SECN)

It’s a huge plus. Also, the fact that there are three 3 seeds in the other supers is a huge advantage also. Have to think the law of averages play out and at least one of them make it through. Fantasy scenario would be to have UConn, Kansas State, and West Virginia in our CWS bracket.
I am really interested to see this UConn/FSU matchup. I’m hoping the Huskies give them all they can handle.

UConn is a very underrated team. The Big East finished as the 7th ranked RPI conference but UConn slots in higher than any team from the next three conferences ahead of them.

I’ve had a disdain for UVA since I was a kid living in Roanoke, VA in the 70’s-80’s. I was a UNC fan but that fandom went to the waist side when I transferred to UT in 1992.

Something tells me we will play one of those two, possibly both. On paper, I like our chances.

I was impressed with what I saw of them last night. They’re really really fundamentally sound. FSU will have to play practically mistake free. I don’t think the crimi-Noles realize what they’re in for. One of their fans laughed at me for suggesting a possible upset. Of course FSU is a really good team and like us, haven’t lost but a few games at home. We’ll see, should be interesting.

Oregon is more of a Cinderella than UConn imo. 3rd best team out of the PAC-12 and has the worst RPI of the remaining teams outside of Evansville.

I like our chances against any team in the tournament. I just have a great feeling about this team. Just feels different.

Yes but the ACC teams have the easier path. Would you rather play a bunch of 3 seeds or another regional host?

ACC matchups:

3 seed UConn
3 seed Kansas State
3 seed West Virginia
1 seed Georgia
3 seed Florida

SEC matchups:

4 seed Evansville
1 seed Oregon State
1 seed NC State
1 seed Clemson
3 seed Oregon

This just showcases that matchups come into play with this. But I know there are those that will say conference X > conference Y simply because they have more teams left at a certain point or because in head-to-head games one conference won more when it may have been a matter of #1 playing #8 from a conference.

The ACC does have the easier path outside of the two teams that face an SEC team so unless they choke, they should get 3 teams in the final 8. The SEC has 3 of the 5 that are going to have to prove they belong in the final 8. Tennessee and Texas A&M should, key word, should win.
