The Official So Miss @ #1 Tennessee Volunteers Regional Game Thread (Sunday June 2nd 6PM EST) (TV SECN)

I've heard Petry is 90% gone now from a lot of places online in the hour since Kingston's firing announcement, Petry will end up here or LSU like every high profile transfer. One to keep an eye on.
She actually told me that yesterday about Petry, has a little bit of an in with some former players that she worked with professionally. She’s scared too death he could end up with the Vols lol.

Then he can take over for Tony V, in 31 years. No one is holding him back, he can blossom into the finest, highest paid assistant coach in America. I’ll even allow him 2 pieces of pie.
it's unrealistic to think we can pay any amount to keep Elander from taking a really good job as the head man. Just like Arkansas probably couldn't have paid Tony any amount of money to stay an assistant forever.

Some coaches, like Frank, prefer the assistant role for life... but those guys usually have to at least experience being a HC to figure that out. Elander hasn't had that opportunity yet.

Petry is going to have suitors from basically every high-profile program. He may end up here, but if he does it would be a long, drawn out recruitment with a lot of twists and turns. And it will be dominated by NIL.

My sister is a gamecock and rumors shes heard are that Petry is heading to the portal and possible replacements are Elander, Gilmore from Coastal or possibly Landon Powell, former gamecock catcher coaching in division 2/3. In their dream world, Godwin from ECU. She was shocked Tanner pulled the trigger so early cuz Kingston’s contract buyout would drop in half if they would have waited to certain date.
Powell would be a good possibility. He has done well at NGU and would be able to recruit.

I just don’t have a problem with Wes and think it’s bizarre how some do. It’s like they want to dislike him, so they come up with reasons to, no matter how ridiculous.

He “makes it about him” because he uses first person pronouns? Seriously? 😂🤣

Columnists provide opinions. The opinions they provide are THEIRS. Wes is a columnist. When one provides one’s own opinion, one must, by virtue of the rules of English grammar, use the first person in order to convey that the opinion is his. This is elementary.

So basically, the problem with Wes is, he’s doing his job. Too many in this fan base just want to be mad at something.
I think his content and observations are pretty decent, in general. Sometimes though, he is convinced that his opinion is the right opinion, which may or may not be true.

Lastly, he has a bad habit of arguing with readers, and tends to do the belittling stuff with snarky comments. He gets a lot of grief, yes, but letting that stuff go without the back and forth would seem prudent.

I warned everyone that the Monday noon start time likely favors Evansville.

Now they've taken the crowd even more out of the game and have watched ECU make dumb mistake after dumb mistake on the basepaths and in the field.

The collars are getting tight again at ECU. They likely will still win but this could start to become a purple snowball rolling downhill too.

0-2 Evansville- Bottom 2nd

Isn't it funny, all the SEC fanbases abhor Tony Vitello but when there's a real - or rumored, coaching change, CTV starts trending on Twitter.

You only hate coaches if you are jealous of their success. All of the hatred is really just disguised envy. No one in the history of the world has ever hated a coach that is absolutely terrible lol.

We're new money. Old money never respects new money. We will have rumors of Vitello taking every SEC job under the sun until we establish ourselves firmly in blue blood territory. That takes about a decade of continued excellence. Vandy and Arkansas weren't **** until DVH and Corbin arrived. Now they're blue bloods and no one thinks they can poach those guys.

ECU just has nothing left pitching wise. Evansville probably doesn't either, but they at least have played one less game.
Yes, just what I was thinking earlier. The question becomes are ECU’s 4th tier pitchers better than Evansville’s 3rd tier guys. Starters and bullpens are fried.

The SEC is all new money. See another post. SEC has "only" been competitive since the 90s.
Vols were in that trend early on and faded due to lack of focus and consistentcy.

Arkansas's trophy case is emptier than ours.
South Carolina has an idiot for an AD.- ironically the baseball coach during their only consistent period of success.
Vanderbilt is facing inevitable NIL oblivion.
Texas will be the only "old money" program in the conference.

I was thinking if Evansville's 4th starter is better than ECU's 5th.

Now ECU has already changed. and bases are loaded. Free swinging strikeout and here is pitching change #2. Godwin is pulling out all the stops and it's only the 2nd innning. They can't give up 2-3 more runs with their diminished pen.

He's searching for a guy who will surprise and eat 4-5 innings.

To be honest. No one wants Van Horn or Corbin. There's rumbling in their fan bases and blood in water.

Well all of the old money teams aren't competitive at all. Southern Cal used to be gods among men in college baseball. Never hear from them now.

The old money schools have died in conference realignment.

USC will never rise again in the B1G unless that conference changes how games are scheduled.

The Arizona schools may come back in the Big12.

All the other Pacific coast powers have tanked in recent years like Fullerton and Long Beach.

Oregon State is a relatively new power but what they hell are they going to do for a baseball conference?

Florida has a habit of chewing up and spitting out coaches- especially baseball.

I wonder how long O'Sullivan will stick around there. We don't hear as much grumbling from local player helicopter parents like you used to under McMahon and Lopez.
